Community rules (click to expand)
1. Follow the site-wide rules
- Instance-wide TOS: https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
- Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudoin Windows. - No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
- Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
5. π¬π§ Language/ΡΠ·ΡΠΊ/Sprache
- This is primarily an English-speaking community. π¬π§π¦πΊπΊπΈ
- Comments written in other languages are allowed.
- The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
- Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
6. (NEW!) Regarding public figures
We all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations. - Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
- We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
- Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed. Β
Please report posts and comments that break these rules!
Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.
Not funny. A neurosurgeon did that to me and now I have to take pills for my kernel panic attacks.
Why take pill, when you can install schnapps?
Imagine how wild the ride would be if it ran Arch...
The year is 2027. Police bust your door down and cuff you. Your pacemaker took part in a ddos attack on the gov servers
It also doesn't have age verification and the patient lives in California.
and it's running a bleeding edge build of systemd and thus currently under attack by social media trolls.
i get the joke but the pacemaker's mostly just a battery. it doesn't have much more radio than the magnetic/wireless charger your phone uses. very, very short range, no wifi at all. it's the other implants that the pace powers you have to worry about.
There was a guy at defcon that encouragef people to hack his pacemakers bluetooth
Wait until they do smart pacemakers that can play netflix
This needs to be disrupted. I bring pacemaker as a service, fully connected, for a small monthly upfront fee you can enjoy the latest in pacemakers, the iβ€οΈ.
iβ€οΈ, a beat into the future.
if anyone actually decides to do this, i will literally beat them to a bloody pulp with my cane. yes this is an actionable threat come get me i will get you
[mods if you are going to allow jokes about that kind of unspeakable violence against the disabled you have to let the disabled vent about those jokes. fuck you]
Latest kernel update broke my heart, literally.
Wrong community. This is for c/selfhosting.
"I self hosted a vital organ 'cos fuck google"
But who is the self who is hosting?
Does it run Doom?
Thereβs going to be a Skyrim release in about a week. The patient will wake up in the back of a creaking wagon.
Yes, but the heartbeat will be synced to the gameplay.
And when you die, you really die.
Not if you hack the matrix

If it does, you should probably go to the E.R.
I have never had an original thought. And I'm 8 hours late.
Doomfibulator
Don't forget to oveclock it so you get more performance
We can boost it up to a full 2 hertz even!
Killall kills only one.
Good one. Honestly. Well done.
Easy to retrieve and reuse once done
DON'T BRICK THE DEVICE!!!
Fetch or it didn't happen...
.Debfibrillator
But can you play Doom?
"How's the driver of the electrodes' GPIO, Doc?"
"Probably won't fit in flash with the kernel and Apache. But I could rewire the electrodes to UART instead, that seems more practical than interfacing with that weird pulse generator."
Are you alright? Do you need mental assistance?
You should start charging them a subscription not to terminate their heart
The pizza box laptop is still goated, IMHO.
