Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Just think about what the east wing is going to look like.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I have an idea...like a Slovenian Whorehouse.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago

Do not besmirch whorehouses, Slovenian or otherwise, by comparing them to anything that that obese child rapist would like. They don't deserve that!

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's gonna get dragged out of the WH in 2029 clutching a literal carpet bag filled with all that gold

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I don't see him making it to the end. Or I hope he doesn't.

[–] voidsignal@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I hope there will be inspirational wooden signs, written in all possible fonts at once, stating stupid things. This is the pinacle of American taste.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Live, laugh, love little ladies

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

Mobster caricature chic, of course.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 days ago

All those gaudy-ass lights and gilt frame around the mirror, and then the $8 Big Lots curtain rod and $6 shower liner

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

One can see the Putin influence.

Almost choked on my lunch over this meme

[–] Reality_Suit@lemmy.world 87 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I'm tired of the news stating things we've already known for years.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 55 points 2 days ago

I'd be okay with it if it actually meant anything. But it's all "and then nothing happened".

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The big thing (and what Trump & co count on) is that — yes, it’s been years since the allegations went public. Everyone knows about the allegations and is tired of them as nothing was done at the time, and so much has happened since.

But NOW, the evidence is all validated, so there can be legal consequences, if people still care. Thing is, people don’t care anymore, because other allegations are considered more important to address now. And the legal system isn’t set up to deal with such a high volume of investigations and cases (and Trump has done his utmost to make this situation even worse).

[–] KneeTitts@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But NOW, the evidence is all validated, so there can be legal consequences

narrator: but there never were any consequences

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There'll be consequences for the country that allowed him to come to power. That'll be enough.

[–] Reality_Suit@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

The rich brought him to power.

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago

Can there be legal consequences after Trump lackey Ailene Cannon dismissed the charges?

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Well nothing ever happens so maybe the information saturation wasn't enough. Maybe not enough of us knew.

More importantly though I think these kind of things need to be said often and by as many sources as possible if only for posterity. So that future generations, if there are any, will at least know what happened. Will at least know some of us were paying attention. Will at least be able to learn the truth and not just the narrative the fascist government wants them to believe.

[–] Einskjaldi@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

No, because it's just as likely he would have taken them just to brag about it.

[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 39 points 2 days ago

We all believed and still believe this. The amount of blatant corruption is proof enough that if he could make money off this we absolutely would.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 48 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago

came to say this exact phrase but instead will add. fuck that trump!

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Next thing they’ll uncover he had 13 year old bite his little dick as he was forcing to rape them and that he buried his victims on his golf courses…

But take your time, there’s still Cuba and Greenland to invade first.

Why is this being reported now? We’ve known this for years.

Has something changed today?

[–] Janx@piefed.social 30 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You can tell it's for his own personal gain because it's something he did.

[–] Didntdoit71@feddit.online 6 points 2 days ago

Wow. What gave him away? EVERYTHING Rump does is either for more money or to stay out of jail.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Wait, you mean to tell me, Trump, the guy who is known for not paying people, lying as a habit, and cheating, bankrupting casinos (not relevant i just like mentioning it), and suing everyone under the sun. That guy did something for personal gain? No way..

[–] kylie_kraft@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Ho-lee fuck. Hoarding extremely classified documents for personal profit is rat king level corruption. But most Americans won't hear about it because the media is controlled by billionaires for whom this is business as usual. A few minor outlets will put up an article, some Dems might send strongly worded letters, and this will be forgotten when Trump says something idiotic tomorrow.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

Remember to ~~kick~~ thank Merrick Garland for his ~~patheitc cowardice~~ service to our country, ~~dragging his feet for 2 years~~ ordering an investigation into Trump's actions ~~giving him enough time to run out the clock and having "judge" Cannon protect him.~~

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 days ago

No shit .... he got convicted for it. He is a felon.

[–] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

This man will be written about for decades as all his corruption comes to the front.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 19 points 2 days ago

Investigators cost a lot of money and they didn't uncover anything we didn't already know and i could have told you that for free because Trump is a thieving, greedy, pedo asshole and there is plenty of evidence to support that statement and the bastard is still alive and still a president, THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago

Not only investigators ... !

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

Say it ain't so!

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Business interests and working for fucking Vlad.

[–] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago

I'm kinda getting sick of these "news headlines" that keep soft-balling obviously true statements like 5 years too late.

[–] Scotty_Trees@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Oh no shit? With headlines like these, why the fuck do I even bother reading shit we've already known for years?

[–] johncandy1812@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

Throw it on the pile

Guy move on you fumbled this ball. Any other former president would have been burned to the stake... This guy wiped his ass with state secrets

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

It would be more surprising if he didnt

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

If only there were charges that could be brought against people who do something like that...

you mean he wasn't doing it for late night reading!
