I haven't regretted ignoring that nvidia even exists when I'm in the market for a new GPU.

As if nvidia and nvidia’s shareholders considers gamers to be customers in 2026.

I feel like some words may have been added to that "quote" over time
the additions make it sound more appropriate to how they see us
Because I still value human artistry and AI is not going to change that.
You can just not ship DLSS 5 in your game…
I don’t see any need to boycott this, especially not as gamers, as you can just disable DLSS 5 if you don’t like it.
I interpret this statement from New Blood boss as fear that their games without DLSS 5 won’t compete well against those with it available.
I don’t share this fear, as there was often new technology to art stuff more easy, like digital art, electronic music, digital cameras, higher resolutions etc.
It always made the traditional art style more valuable not less, as people are motivated to pay a premium for “authentic” art.
So my conclusion:
Art that is targeted at mainstream / big quantity / fast release cycles has benefit in AI and has to use it to stay competitive, but in the other hand mainstream art has always been live-less / unhuman anyway, so I am not very sad about this.
“Real” Art that is done by Artists for themselves not made to be like by as many people as possible will grow in value and maybe even get more popular again as people may get fed up from re-iterating art that works (e.g. pop songs)
Why would I pay for something and then disable it?

Such a thing said by a game studio that can very well decide to not use it, feels like wanting to ride the wave of backlash.
Keep your artistic integrity, that I believe will become a very big selling point sooner or later.
As for players, I seriously doubt many could afford two 5090s just to run that crap, probably not even one if the AI bubble doesn't burst soon so prices can go back to normal.
I don't know, I don't detect bandwagoning from their statements. They sound like real, genuine hatred.
Speaking to PC Gamer in comments the pair have since posted in full to social media Oshry and Dusk developer David Szymanski argued that DLSS 5 isn't just an optional trick folks can ignore, but something that should actively resisted.
"Please tell me what generative AI has anything to do with Deep Learning Super Sampling - which is what DLSS actually stands for in case anyone forgot," Oshry said. "They're hiding this Gen AI bullshit behind the DLSS moniker because they think we're stupid...They know if they called it something like 'Nvidia Generative Upscaling' the public backlash would be immediate and intense."
In the developer's eyes, DLSS 5 amounts to "fundamentally changing the way video games look based on artificial intelligence that's been trained on Instagram models and Epstein memes", leading him to question the point of making game art in the first place.
If I saw these comments on a Lemmy post, it would fit right at home.
