Just sad that they are confident people are still going to waste money on this and not just buy optimised games for existing computers. Gamers need a cultural revolution.

I know PC gaming is technically better, and I've spent far longer playing on that than console, but I can understand the appeal of consoles. They are arguably cheaper, they're plug and play, no drivers, no troubleshooting, no reinstalling windows/Linux, repeated crashing, etc. Plug it into the TV and that's it. When you buy a game you download and update it and then play it. You don't have to fiddle with the settings, close/open, check fps, re update drivers, restart, finally get to play, oh but unfortunately it's poorly optimized for your specific piece of hardware so it'll always be horrible.

Console has always felt like a lot less hassle.

They are arguably cheaper

No they are not. The total cost of ownership is much higher with consoles. That is even if you don't pirate. Not to mention that the buying price for consoles is only competitive in the first few years of a generation.

they're plug and play,

No, you wait around inserting a disk, and for a 100GB update to finish.

no reinstalling windows/Linux Most gamers never reinstall their OS.

You don't have to fiddle with the settings,

This is a bad thing. On PC, I can decide to play it how I want. Do I want to trave in fidelity for performance? I can. Do I want to do the reverse? I can.

check fps

They don't let you check fps on consoles because of you knew how pathetic it was, and if you ever had any experience playing on PC, you'd know how much of a rip off consoles are and switch over.

it's poorly optimized for your specific piece of hardware

This is never the case. A wide range of hardware work with PC games. PC parts are interoperable by design. The two main GPU vendors - AMD and Intel, optimize the hell out of their drivers. If a game is optimized, it is automatically optimized for all hardware.

I have a PC and an inherited PS5, I use the PS5 more because I'm lazy and spend all day on a computer for work. When I get home the last thing I want to do is sit at a desk and touch a keyboard lol

You aren't playing AAA games with the same consistency and ease as a console even at these price points. The disk argument is silly, games just download to the console same as a PC now.

As for the performance/setting/etc, look at the reviews for every game or PC and there will be countless people suffering. Plenty of games aren't even worth playing because they don't work. Windows is trash but the only real option if you want broad compatibility. PC is better but is infinitely more annoying. The average person doesn't want to work in IT as a side hobby.

These are cheaper than computers most of the time still, especially to play certain games.

Consoles are more expensive than PCs for equivalent performance for most of a console generation.

When a new console generation starts, they are price competitive over PCs for a year or two, but even then, they are not price competitive in terms of the total cost of ownership. Games on PC are significantly cheaper. Online services are free as opposed to a subscription on consoles. And I haven't even touched piracy, which you can't do on consoles.

900 dollars for a console. For a 5 year old generation.
