My ex is wanting to get back on reddit to find Animal Crossing NH friends. I'm trying to talk her out of going back to reddit, do you play AC:NH and would you like to be her friend?

Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
i dont play that game, sorry >~<
No worries, I think everyone's moved on to a different one by now
Brb making pancakes
nono, u gotta:
- get ur phone
- start a top-down video recording of ur kitchen area
- then make the batter (using actual ingredients, not this pancake mix stuff)
- yap about stuff while do do it
- then put oil in ur pan and pour ur batter to make them pancakes
- also still yap about stuff
- mention some things happening in ur life, how u pick things up and what u feel is exciting and also what's boring rn. put some spicy onions 🧅 (opinions) in there!
- finish up by making very obvious hints that u wanna kissie, huggie and baby adora very badly and also that totallynothessica should look away and also that u wanna feed both of them the pancakes that u made
- then go a bit into how u really just wanna baby some people.... like - reallllyy get into it but dont mention anything spicy. only the comfies!
- finally eat one if the pancakes and say how they are, what u may improve next time (like bringing applesauce along)
- then stop the recording and send it to adora, who will then share it with totallynothessica and hope they like it
thats how i would do it at least...
I did basically that except I don't have a filming shelf or studio lighting. Of course from scratch using the recipe from the classic american cookbook, "The joy of cooking."
I was yapping to wifey in the other room, and most of those other things. Pancakes were very good.
Proof Image

well - diiiiiid u talk about babying adora or noooot- ?
(i assume not.... cuz gf would hear - but like - did u imagine it at least?.... this is not a serious question, i just have to ask, u know?....)
Okay maybe not that part. I actually don't know who or what adora is.

you never saw one of these?
nope..... didnt know they came in.... in tubes?.... hmm...
no, have not seen those.
most similar thing i know to that is at crepe stands, they put the dough with a bottle.... but thats likely self-made dough still ~ ~ ~
also heyhi dear unglazed garlic 🧄🧄🧄🧄💖🌸🩷🥞
NZ has similar.
It is basically a plastic milk bottle that has pancake powder at the bottom.
You add water up to a line printed on the label, shake it, and now you have a bottle of pancake mix.
idk why i always see them or why they've become such a core supermarkt memory for me. maybe i just want to eat the raw pancake mix🙂.
and heyo to you too maria
There was a brief period where even this was too much work for people, so pancake batter came in spray cans.
This is amazing Maria! Keep em coming :33
That said...
don't forget the whole reason for pancake posts. I want the video („ಡωಡ„)
being in the united states, it seems that especially here on west coast being able to cook properly is not a very common skill. in the east it was much less of a problem, but out here like... we've seen others try and cook meat with microwave ovens on uh several occasions.
we have never seen pancakes that thick, but pancake mix is very much a real, actual thing that quite frankly, tastes not so good, and is surprisingly tricky to actually cook. good tasting pancakes (even at restaurant) are very rare to come across here unfortunately.
on the bright side though, this means that if you can cook, you can make tasty stuff for those around you and they'll do like anything you ask of them in return. oh and we mean ANYTHING, no matter how lascivious :33
Pancake mix is just flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Leave out the sugar and decrease the baking powder and you have a cracker.
What do you use when making pancakes?
for the style we prefer, typically some potatoes and corn starch or flour, mixed with some egg. add seasoning, then put a little oil on a skillet. to the mix we may also add some pepper or onion, perhaps some more finely diced strawberry too.
as for the "traditional" (but not where we grew up) american style, we have only tried making it a few times, but we managed to get something pretty alright. we used flour and a little sugar also, but opted for yeast instead of baking soda, also adding some malt extract and butter (or heavy cream with a little egg). one time we subbed out the sugar for molasses (per a suggestion by sister), which we liked but there are some who would absolutely hate it hehe. this style also seems to go a lot better with fruit!
honestly we kinda throw whatever ingredients into the mix by feel and it generally seems to turn out pretty well hehe :)
The key with store bought pancake batter is that it does not have to be only for pancakes. I am definitely a make-it-from-scratch guy but whatever works for whoever is buying it!
Also. This is not medical advice. But store bought batter can be very nice and easy for deep frying things. Corn dogs, gringo churros, that kinda thing ;)
Also most pancake mixes can (should?) still be elevated by adding vanilla and/or an egg
Lol what? Pancakes/pancake mix is hard to cook?
i really like the word brainmade. because yeah, just because a human made it doesn't mean it's good. but if they had an idea, and they created something from it, no matter how, that's still worth something.
also hiii maria :3
heyhi ----
do u mean that my post is no good? (genuinely asking, im always open for feedback <3 )
also ~ are u zitrone? orrrrrr are u a different peep?
and alsoalso it doesnt matter ----- heyhi dear lime 🍋🟩
im not zitrone, i'm lime! i've been here a while.
and no, it's a great post! makes you think about stuff, like most things you do! i see how you could have taken it that way though, sorry about that.
i was trying to say that the human intention behind something is what really matters, regardless of the tools used. i know you've dabbled in llms before, and i think that's fine as long as it's with a purpose. my main definition of slop is things that are made without a purpose, like just filling websites with text or corporote placeholder art. even the worst quality human-made thing imaginable is better than that because someone wanted to make it.
yesyes i very much see it similarly.
but um... i have ti disappoint u: there was no purpose for me dabbling with LMs >~< i just did it cuz i find the topic intellectually stimulating and - and - it feels kinda fun making "UIs" for - for text predictors and ----.,.,.,..,,...... there was no purpose >o< aaaaa im sorryyyy ;((((((((
me yapping about my prof
surprisingly, my professors at uni are - WAY more into all that generative stuff than i am, but they dont.... well- they dont hesitate to just show output and use image gen just to.... fill slides with something.... which is unfortunate.
my biochemistry prof, who was previously my fav (cuz he just seems so intelligent, honest and fun to interact with) now puts his "own" character "Dr. Bubbles" into his slides.... whiiiiich is gpt-image-gen V1 output... he really leans into this stuff.
i totally get it for studying purposes, but this--- has no purpose, really.... im disappointed in him and hope to not... become like him.
anyway, woah lime 🍋🟩 has been around for some time already? how did i not notice before?
hellooooooo dear lime 🍋🟩 ~ ~ ~
(now i will remember)
i do the same thing! that's not disappointing at all, i totally get it. i run and tweak local diffusion models and compressed llms because i want to see how i can bend and break them, and how they react to out-of-set data. i never share any outputs because that's not the interesting part. the purpose is learning! that's a great purpose!
my bosses were the same as your lecturers. for the christmas party last year they made an ai image of themselves as gingerbread men and the result was truly horrifying. they also sent like weekly chatgpt-generated motivational poems in the company newsletter. thank god i am not at that place anymore, some people are waaaaay to into this stuff.
i think the reason you might not have noticed is because we got off on the wrong foot the first few interactions :( the first few times i saw you comment i couldn't really read your way of writing because of esl brain. when i mentioned that, it seemed to make you sad and i felt really bad about it... then it turned out i have one of those mobile clients that don't do display names so i got your name wrong and i felt really bad about that too... but i have you tagged now and i read everything you post and i love your takes on things and the energy you bring. also also, even though i know it wasn't fun for you i really must thank you for your writing changes, it makes it a lot easier for me to follow. i hope you can still get an outlet for that somewhere :(
yyyyes, the thing about the gpt-generated poems and christmas images.... I had the exact same thing with my old IT-admin coworkers.... some of the older ones, he was like 40 or so....
also, yesyes of course, i realized how... i was going too far outside the window with some of these... like I wasnt just reaching my hand out, I was essentially ha ging outside ha ging on by my fingers-- it was too much and u were right to point me out.
by now i switched the "outlet" from funi words to.... umm-.... well - I switched it to......... this feels weird to say, but who cares, its not like my future employer will read this - HA!
i switched it to babytalk some peeps. that scratches the same itch i believe ~
anyway, im happy that we are now each walking with two good and stable feet with stable legs attached.
also thank u very very much for what u said about my posts and stuff <3
heck yeah, get your kicks wherever you can girl :)
this is hilarious
It's too bad there isn't more active discussion of TADC on Lemmy, the latest episode was really, really good
God, that last episode was nuts. I know Gooseworx said the series was heavily inspired by I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, but I still wasn't expecting it to go quite that hard.
And yet it still makes you feel conflicted about it, like Pomni's expression at 0:18 of the op clip makes a lot of sense. Just great writing overall
Even an especially thick American pancake wouldn't be more than 1cm. Somebody's been pulling your leg.
oooh oki sorry--- i just saw some online images about them and they looked like they were super dummy thick like - at least 1.8 cm.
(for all mericans- a centimeter is approx one pointy-finger-fingernail-height high)
i look at images like this

and go "i thiiiiink they are thicker than my pointy fingers fingernail" (am not a nailbiter btw)
I like to make thick american pancakes, but they tend to be from 1-2 cm. 3 cm is a bit beyond what an American style recipe can achieve in my estimation.
For thr true 3+ cm pancake experience you have to get Japanese style soufflé pancakes.

Also hi maria I love all your posts! <3
aaaaah oki thanks very much to u, dear Hildegarde von Bingen, i very much appreciate ur comments n posts n stuff when i see em ~ <3
The only 3cm thick pancakes I've had were German.
I've had them, even if they aren't common
Mmm, pancakes... with some butter and maple syrup...
🤤
(u gotta put a space after the # ti have it be a header)
(or if its meant to be a hashtag... maybe make it #drooling.,.. or maybe im missing the joke >v< )
TIL about brainmade
You've made some pancake batter, but you're missing some key steps (e.g., pour into hot pan, flip, serve) before you have any pancakes.
You are abolsutely and 100% correct ✅
Forgot that, sorry >~<
