The Army pilots who hovered two helicopters near Kid Rock’s Tennessee home during a training run while he clapped and saluted have had their suspension lifted, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday.

“No punishment. No Investigation. Carry on, patriots,” Hegseth said in a social media post.

Earlier, a U.S. Army spokesperson said the crews of the two AH-64 Apache helicopters from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell were suspended from flying, pending an investigation into their actions. The suspension was a discretionary — but not unusual — step when an investigation is underway, Maj. Montrell Russell said in statement.

Great use of taxpayer money. No waste, fraud, or abuse to see here.

"No punishment. No Investigation. Carry on, patriots" is what we'll say when Trump, Kegseth and the people who enabled them are mysteriously assassinated.

[–] StraponStratos 2 points 3 hours ago

The only people who have tried to assassinate any of them have been MAGA.

[–] neclimdul@lemmy.world 22 points 13 hours ago

I'm sure undermining your officers like this is great for morale and discipline of the troops under them. Great job Dumb McNamara.

These guys must be sucking each others dicks with the greatest of expertise.

Helo pilots aren't comfortable without working a stick in each hand.

Quantity has a quality of its own

They are no more than 40 percent.

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 7 points 16 hours ago (4 children)

Could someone explain to me what’s the shit all about the two pilots overing above kid rock ? Why was it an offense ?

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 50 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Military personnel taking time out of their taxpayer-funded training exercise to get some social media material.

As former enlisted, an argument could be made they were AWOL. They were not in their designated place at their designated time, and did not have permission to do the thing they did.

[–] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 hours ago

Do you know what their orders were? Are you sure they weren't in their designated zone? Or are you just mad because it was Kid Rock?

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 15 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Can you explain why it is acceptable for some random chucklefucks to take a 50 million dollar piece of equipment out for a joyride to give a tik tok opportunity to Kid Fucking Rock?

Or in this day and age why we want to normalize military aircraft flying wherever they want over US cities?

[–] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 0 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Do you think that enlisted personnel that are in charge of expensive equipment are micromanaged to that level? Aircraft are given a zone they should be operating in and I doubt they went "awol." The only reason this incident matters is because they flew next to a person with somewhat popular social media. Hell a friend of mine did basically the same thing when he was doing some O-rides back in the day. Though he was in a V-22 osprey instead of an Apache.

No, the only reason that it matters is that the federal government and military are letting Trump and his friends have whatever fun they want at our expense.

Why do you think the drunkard had to cancel any investigations and let them off?

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website -1 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I was in the impression that it was order by someone.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

No, you were under the impression that you could sow doubt where none is due.

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 0 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

No. Fuck Kid Rock and Hegset. I really didn’t understand how two Apache could fly by Kid Rock’s house without being authorized by someone. There’s radar cover everywhere, how could the civil and military could not call them back is beyond stupid and incompetent.

Anyway

[–] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 5 points 10 hours ago

I'm sure the investigation will clear that right up

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Because I'm fucking paying for it?

[–] Town@lemmy.zip -5 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

How much could it have cost?

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 5 points 12 hours ago

"It's a banana Michael, how much could it cost? $10?"

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 20 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Would you like to know how much it costs per minute to operate an Apache helicopter? Here’s a hint; it’s a lot. Now where the fuck do you think that money comes from?

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website -1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I was in the impression that it was order

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

You're repeating yourself.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

That'll teach em
