Maybe it's just my algo, but first I see Any Austin saying he doesn't "get" stew in a video. Them some guy on Insta was holding a rotisserie chicken and saying "soup people be like 'I wanna drink this'", then some other guy on Insta calling soup "adult baby food".

Is there some soup related meme going around I missed?

excuse me but did you just suggest stew is the same thing as soup??

you EAT stew, if you can "drink it" you did it WRONG

First of all stew mogs soup, so jot that down. Otherwise:

Making soup? That's good stuff. Great really.

Buying canned soup? You better be sick istg

Buying soup at a restaurant? You're on thin ice, buddy

Going to a soup themed restaurant? Watch your back fr

People come up with a lot of rationale for why they don't like stuff.

If you and your family don't cook well, your first exposure to soup would just be Campbells or powdered soup. If at all. Which are fine, but not exactly great. Not exactly having a consommé or a kaishuibaicai

What I like about soup is that the broth combines all its ingredients into a flavor Voltron, so if you're a picky eater like me, it's a great way to incorporate foods into your diet that you find overwhelming on their own.

There is so much I will eat if you just simmer it in dark vegetable stock.

I'm the same, I can't stand cooked carrots, I've tried, I just can't. And it's not a case of me just having them poorly prepared growing up like brussel sprouts (love those delicious little guys roasted or fried), I've tried them many different ways and I just can't stand them.

But simmer them in some stock with potatoes, celery, seasonings and I'll eat cooked carrots every day of the week

Soup is an adult food as fuck. You gotta have leftovers, you gotta make stock. It tskes some damn time. Making soup is something you plan to do a day or so before.

I think for thinner soups we need to move away from bowl and spoon. Thats for stew and chilli. Thinner soups should be drank from a mug. I like having a mug of soup nearby at work cause im a kitchen guy and mire often than not i dont have time to stop and eat. Always having soup on hand helps there. I'm considering a thermos for every day carry soup. I can just keep some soup in my bag when I go out. If im hungry I dont have to pick up food or whatever, I eat the soup.

I think picky eaters are on the rise and it doesn't bode well.

The soup tides are turning.

[–] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 15 points 6 days ago

The sea was angry that day, my friends. Like an old man returning soup at a deli.

Yeah I've met some people with some crazy restrictive food preferences lately.

I get not liking mushrooms or spinach or whatever, but I've met some mofos out there who eat only frozen cheese pizza of one particular brand.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

eat only frozen cheese pizza of one particular brand.

Hey, do you want some cheese pizza? Hot from the oven!

That's not my brand. Are you trying to kill me?

Surely - you're not serious.

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley,

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago

That's not my brand.

I have special ~~eyes~~ taste buds

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 3 points 6 days ago

The Soviet Union died for this pizza brand, and you will enjoy it!

monke-rage

Wouldn't adult baby food just be food?

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Who the fuck is talking shit about soup? Show yourself motherfuckers.

Literally no one. OP is just trying to hype up soup by saying someone, somewhere talked shit about soup to get people to defend soup.

Apparently the social media influencers think that's more effective than just asking people. Cunningham's Law states that the best way to get people online to answer your question isn't to ask it — since people are afraid of being wrong — but to state an incorrect answer, because a lot of Internet commenters will bend over backwards and even risk being wrong themselves to get one over on someone they think is wrong. So OP has invented this boogeyman who says soup is bad so everyone riles up and defends soup.

There may have been someone who said some bad things about soup at one point, but they aren't the point. You and your engagement with OP is.

Soup is good food. It makes a good meal.

[–] someone@hexbear.net 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I wonder if there's a geographical bias going on. Soups and stews are a millennia-old staple of cold climate diets worldwide.

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 5 points 6 days ago

nothing quite as warming as drinking soup from a bowl in the snowy woods marx-ok

[–] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 10 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I could see it being an astroturf to steer people away from buying crockpots and leaving the food rat-race.

But maybe the algorithm is dead-set on the conviction that you want anti-soup content and you want it now.

They can take my instapot from my cold dead hands!

Stew is fantastic, split pea soup is delish, ramen is a great working class dish that can be served a hundred ways to however you want it.

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

Oh I love soup! I made a giant ass pot of bean chili last night, gonna slurp that shit down later.

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 6 days ago

i think it's just people being fucking weird about food

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

[–] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 6 days ago

Finally someone who’s willing to stand up for what they believe.

Also soup is goated. Here, try this one. It’s soup flavored.

[–] Athena5898@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago

Heathens! May our lord soup set them free

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago
