  1. LLM-generated custom web experiences unique to every user, fed on all data on the entire rest of the Internet, paradoxically stealing ad clicks from the people who need that revenue to continue producing novel data.

  2. The anti-AI web, certified by webring, blogroll, and federation trust networks, protected against LLM scrapers by iocaine and Anubis and god knows what else designed to poison models, divert models, and rack up the expense of scraping.

This post prompted me to go down a rabbit hole to learn how Anubis works and it's super basic and also super cool. For anyone else who wants to know it is proof of work based. So just look up what that is and that's how it works. Very neat idea and I absolutely love the idea of making the entire Internet proof of work protected now. It would completely halt AI growth forever

Oh iocaine is cool too it just gives the AIs junk data. Would love to see these tools somehow working together, make the AIs work extra hard to access junk data chefs-kiss kill the AI tech bro industry before they kill the planet

I was just looking at iocaine too, would be fun to give it all my ebooks as training data if I ever set it up.

It's great how something that minorly inconveniences a user (a 1000x increase in CPU usage for a few ms) absolutely cripples large scale crawlers because now it takes 1000x the compute to do the same thing.

It's also infinitely scalable since they have to buy 1000x more computers to compete and you need to just write :

ZERO_PREFIX = ZERO_PREFIX+1

To fully wipe that out.

There will be no more internet in the way of there being an actual web of different places. There will be a single social media app (whichever one is winning capitalism at the time). It will be mostly advertising and LLM bots trying to generate false trends for products. If there is an actual 'web of sites' left, it will be mostly the same LLM generated SEO top ten lists and jank articles that all produce near identical content. Hell, we're already there for the most part.

The Anti-AI web will exist. But don't expect to be able to find it easily or be very active because it will be delisted or not promoted by the algorithm. I don't imagine any web that isn't corporate in some way will be easy to find.

I'm being doomer of course though so maybe it won't be like that, who knows.

Setup your solar+battery powered mesh network repeaters while it's still legal to get the parts to do so!

Counterpoint there will be no more internet because the US implodes and takes AWS down with it

We can only hope.

An everything app, if you will

The point of moving search engines to LLMs is to stop traffic from going away from the search engines unless it's through an ad click. Websites that want to survive off organic search traffic will need to provide an experience that can't be replicated by just copying and pasting data from it by a "search engine" LLM.

Na, that will just promote the adoption of "private" and obfuscated networks operating within the traffic of the surface (corporate) web.

Torr won't be the next stage of this development, but something different, something that aims to solve the core contradiction of the onion network, which is exit node security and trustworthiness.

Idk something like that. A dark web, but for people who want to post beanis memes.

To solve the problem of exit nodes you would either have to get rid of them (staying entirely within the network, which is already an option in Tor) or it would require the surface web to adopt security technologies, like we have mostly adopted TLS. For example more DNS layer security may help. Attempting to fix the problem on the Tor side I think is difficult.

I don't know how I forgot about onion services.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Lol my account history is filled with attempts at getting people to see the need for moving to Tor and monero. One of the good ones is with you, actually. data-laughing

It was mostly on monero, but imo, monero and tor use need to go hand in hand.
