Just picked up my second medical cannabis prescription - this time prescribed 3 months worth instead of just one, and at an increased dose (I was up to taking 2-3 low strength gummies each day - not economical with the higher strength being only slightly more expensive). It's been great so far. I'm taking it mainly for poor sleep + secondarily for chronic low level depression/anxiety. It HAS helped my sleep dramatically, which has left me feeling way better during the day times - more mellow, peaceful, also more energy and positive mood (probably just because of the better sleep). I'm just taking them at night during the week and it has been A+. I'm also drinking less which is another win.

Black hole sun is a hard song to learn but I finally got it. With covers I'm not trying to sound like the original singer which helps.

We also have a stand-off at my place.

Any recommendations for Tasmania in Nov/Dec in a campervan? Looking at Mona, a whiskey tour and Wine Glass Bay.

[โ€“] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Hobart :

for me MONA is a must see although some people are put off by various art pieces.(even to the point of lawsuits). Also the dedicated ferry to and from MONA is more fun and I think you might need to book ahead for some exhibitions

Port Arthur is great. Plan an entire day there, have picnic and take the boat to the Isle of the Dead for an interesting guided tour of the penal colony cemetery.

Some of my favourite food and drink in Hobart:

Bar Wa Izakaya , a super fun Japanese restaurant

Urban Greek, delicious food and great service

Landscape grill for excellent steak

The Den Salamanca, cozy whiskey/cocktail bar to chill out after you hit the market. The food is good as well.

Moto Vecchia cafe, for nice coffee and brekkie. They are super friendly there. Itโ€™s just across the river.

Further afield: King Solomons cave in Liena is really cool guided tour and worth the drive. Stop in Mumma Buzzโ€™s Cafe in Deloraine for excellent egg and bacon roll

Cataract Gorge in Launceston is a beautiful bike or walk track

If we take the Spirit, we normally book the overnight trip.

Respect your detailed review ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Thanks Force.

The Botanical Gardens. The Japanese garden is exquisite.

Port Arthur is pretty interesting if you've never been and there's an animal sanctuary not far from there too.

Listening to a reading of a biography of Martha Stewart. I had no idea she was such an awful person.

at the same time she herself was a hard worker and mostly honest, she only went to prison a little bit

the closest example in fiction would be Flick in the movie Election. Conniving and exploitative and treacherous.

[โ€“] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

She was living and working in a very dog-eat-dog world. With the added disadvantage of being female. I'm not surprised at her behaviour, although she had alternatives and didn't take them and must therefore carry the consequences of those decisions. Which I believe she did.

You don't knowingly keep selling bum shares to your friends, take huge commissions, and then let your friends go broke

you don't verbally and physically abuse husband and daughter

you don't catch the clap on your honeymoon with someone else because you are mean slut and want to torment your new husband

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 19 hours ago (2 children)
[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 19 hours ago

I'm practically in tears for her husband.

he suffered cancer in his leg and faced amputation, she mocked him and his illness to friends and family

she's a psychopath ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

because you are mean slut

Woah there, that there's an insult to all good hearted, hard-working sluts across the world. Those ladies of the night break their backs and pussies to take care of themselves!

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)
[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 18 hours ago

a slut is not a prostitute, not even someone who is promiscuous, which is also ok

prostitutes are ok

also, the main point is she was mean, going off with another man in front of her new husband to ne mean, then coming back with the clap

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

Came back from lunch and it smells like someone opened some boot polish in here. I think I'll go work upstairs the rest of the day

Two tall guys at work checked to see who was taller. The guy in the much less senior position won out, so I wanted to say "heightmogged by a clearancemaxxing customerservicechad" but then you need to explain to everyone what each of those words mean and why you know them

[โ€“] bacon@aussie.zone 2 points 20 hours ago

youโ€™re cooking

I'm upset that I know what that sentence means. It's knowledge I've acquired against my will.

One of the techs at work is a negger and it's very strange. Well, maybe not quite a negger, but just an odd cat. I went into the kitchen to throw my banana peel out and he says "what, no coffee? Come on Spin...." or I was working with a machine the other day and he just walked past and whispered "omg you broke it".

Most oddly, last week I was cleaning something and it made me gag (it was just mud) and he started goading me on to make me vomit. I had to run away!

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 4 points 22 hours ago

Sounds like an obnoxious dick who will pretend he was only trying to be funny if confronted. Is he doing this to other people or just you?

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Things like this make me so very very glad I'm ASD because this man would have been hit with so many **"What the FUCK"**s he would have fled weeing his stupid little pants.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

confront directly about the negging

it could be a bad habit or he could be a dick

Either ZERO people skills or actively hostile. That's not odd, that's diagnosable. And creepy.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

To play devil's advocate, perhaps he thinks he's being playful? Like, banter or something. At least, that's my experience when I have confronted ex-colleague about the same behaviours. Then again, those types are often very good at feigning ignorance ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

On the other hand, it isn't funny if only he is laughing y'know. For something to be genuinely funny, the subject also has to find it funny. Otherwise it's bullying.
