so. Balatro was independently developed. but in order to get widespread distribution and funding, it was got across the line with the help of a publisher. now a private equity firm that is the majority stakeholder for Fandom (fka wikia) and Gamespot is buying that publisher

no, but they likely have an exclusivity deal for at least a few years, and possibly in perpetuity
