Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

A right? Don't know. But he certainly has the capacity and drive to be the worst president ever. Fulfilling that bigly. Showed me just how many shit Americans there are, in my friend group, in my family, and just generally surrounding me at all times.

Sorry to hear that. Most of the people I know tend to know have shifted more toward reactionary centrist territory - if they admitted to voting for him at all.

The people that still support him? We don't interact with them so very much any more. Not by accident.

Thanks, Chuck 😉

He's already done it. The physical statue means nothing with this admin in power.

It's like he's daring the people to revolt. And when they don't after every ludicrous thing he tries, he just tries something even more ludicrous. I'm morbidly curious about where the line actually is at this point, because I thought it had been crossed ages ago.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Maybe he does?

But we should seriously look at what the President’s powers are in that regard.

Those monuments don’t belong to the government. They belong to The People and simply electing one man to represent them currently should not be enough to destroy those monuments.

I kind of hope he does. Not only should it piss off Americans for generations we also lost pretty much all rights to own anything including the word "Liberty".

I wonder how much copper is in the Statue of Liberty. Enough for at least 1 days center? /s

But seriously that’s fucked up.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I dare him to try. It won't go well

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why? What will the consequence be? And why not implement that consequence now, since he has already done so much worse. I'm sick of hearing that if he does another shitty thing, he'll finally somehow face consequences and then he keeps not facing any consequences. I guess that's what helps people sleep at night, thinking in spite of all the shit that should have gotten him removed from office already, he won't dare cross another line because that would finally be the last straw

Americans are big on symbols cause actual reality is a confusing mirage to them, and they're very shallow, so maybe that would be the one thing that would unite America against Trump? Lol.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He'd just call the statue woke and say the new Trump Statue of Liberty will be up in two weeks

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 6 points 1 week ago

He literally said the ufc stage will rival the eiffel tower last week soo yeah that's 200% believable. Im sure he'll also select a sketch company and when it goes wrong distance himself. Such a predictable pos.
