Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Life being at conception be like...

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 20 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Fan theory: survivors of the Thanos snap still had half of their gut biome randomly die, so for the week following the snap, basically everything with a digestive tract had explosive diarrhea.

[–] Vreyan31@reddthat.com 2 points 42 minutes ago

Gut bacteria divide rapidly because they are constantly getting flushed out.

If you remove half, I think your gut would recover in like 15 minutes.

You are probably removing a far higher proportion any time you eat a really high fiber meal

[–] howrar@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 hour ago

And again when everyone was brought back, including the gut bacteria.

[–] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 hours ago

Imagine just getting a uterus full of dust

[–] sunsofold@lemmy.zip 17 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, my god. That woman engulfed a baby like a python and then Thanos saved it.

[–] kyonshi@dice.camp 6 points 4 hours ago

@sunsofold @HonoraryMancunian guys, I think this Thanos guy might be some sort of hero!

*CHANTING* Thanos! Thanos! THANOS!

[–] neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 hours ago

So there was this show, The Leftovers…

[–] Damage@feddit.it 11 points 5 hours ago

Oh shit he turned that woman into a baby

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 33 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Good point, now do conjoined twins.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 30 minutes ago)

They bleed out because those pesky shared organs are important

[–] HoneyMustardGas@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Someone might feel lonely or relieved. I wonder how many conjoined twins are good at just accepting how they are vs the ones that argue with each other. There's one in my area and they are the happiest people. They just passed away but they were always getting along according to interviews.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 1 points 28 minutes ago* (last edited 20 minutes ago)

Tbh if you were interviewed by the news. Would you tell the news that you don't get along with the person you are literally joined to the hip with?

It's not like you can one of those video side interviews. She is always just there.

Also why invite them into your dirty laundry? Being on the news is a big event for most people. Your coworkers, your family, and friends are going to watch you.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago

There's one in my area and they're the....

Yes they can obviously be used singularly, but around the context of conjoined twins my brain enjoyed the choice of terms.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

Dude coulda just made universe twice as big but gotta do you, big T.

[–] IPeaceInYourFace@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Well, the alternative was a lot more macabre. That would've been a controversial move as an artist.

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 30 points 6 hours ago

Do you think the ash cloud would just pour out of her like a dusty queef?

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 9 points 7 hours ago

"The Snap" by Loading Ready Run

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 2 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Is it just me or does this feel anti abortion

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 hours ago

It's just you

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 4 hours ago

Yeah, either the kid can survive this (if given the care that is usually provided after birth) or it's still a part of the mother's body and should've been snapped as such.

[–] hanke@feddit.nu 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I don't really get this one

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

It's a reference to one of the marvel movies in which thanos kills half of humanity by randomly disintegrating people. In this case the mother is disintegrated but the baby not.

[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Ahem, half of all the life in the universeβ˜οΈπŸ€“

[–] sunsofold@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago (3 children)

That's another part I don't remember seeing. Why didn't half the trees ash away in the forest? What about things where there's no good line between where 'one' ends and 'another' begins like fungal mycelium? Since all humans are composed of living cells, shouldn't half of the cells die?

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Counter argument- β€œhalf of all life removed at random” isn’t β€œhalf of all life planet to planet”. Maybe all our flora survived and another lost the balance. You could theoretically have a planet that lost absolutely nothing but several others were wiped out entirely to balance that.

[–] sunsofold@lemmy.zip 1 points 43 minutes ago

Technically possible, but the probability that everything on earth except humans won the coinflip would be infinitesimal.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

And what about viruses? Are they living things or not?

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

If you presume no, then imagine the same number of viruses, now infecting half the number of hosts. This seems like it would skew the balance closer towards viral survival at the expense of all living beings. Oh well.

[–] Muehe@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 hours ago

Well it for sure killed my entire "Suspension of disbelief".

[–] hanke@feddit.nu 5 points 6 hours ago

Aha, okay. I've seen the movie, but the reference wasn't that clear to me πŸ˜„

Thanks for explaining though!
