Hello friends. I have reincarnated as a seal. Yes, reincarnation is real. I am living proof.

Spicy peanut sauce for Roast Veggies from last week:

  • 1 jalapeรฑo or other chili, finely chopped (or 2 tbsp chili paste)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 shallot (or equivalent of any onion)
  • cooking oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric (optional)
  • ยฝ to 1 cup coconut milk
  • ยฝ cup sugarless peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  • ยฝ tsp sesame oil

Finely chop the pepper, garlic, and shallot, or use a food processor to make them into a paste. (If youโ€™re using chili paste instead of a fresh pepper, hold off on it for now.) Splash some oil in a saucepan on medium heat. Once itโ€™s warm, add the chili, garlic, and shallot and sautรฉ until everythingโ€™s translucent. Add the turmeric, coconut milk, and chili paste if applicable. Let it come to a boil, then turn the heat down. Add the peanut butter and soy sauce and stir to combine. Once itโ€™s all combined, taste it and add whatever you think it needsโ€”but think about the salt and spice in particular.

House clean, cat brushed and spoiled with treats, guitar and singing practice done.

A game called Signalis. It's really, really good and was only 20 bucks. Have a look and see what you think!

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

Looks interesting!! I am unfortunately elbow deep in Infinity Nikki but am trying to find a new game for Boyo who is clearly in the mood reject everything. Will put that on a list though, thank you!!

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When you're finished with the game, I recommend watching Flawed Peacocks epic breakdown of it.

Awesome. Will do :)

My aunt msgd the family chat this morning, asking why the chat has been so dead lately. Asked if it was just all of us being busy or whether it was the winter blues.

I want to respond with: "my blues are not confined to just one season, [aunt name]"

But I have refrained and will not say that at all lol.

Same aunt who, when I posted about my rent increase, basically said "well, I bought a house as a single mum with three kids! Took me a year but I did it!".

Okay, aunt. Well done. Must have been very hard. ๐Ÿ™„

A whole year!!!

a year of saving, a year of looking for a house, a year of organising a loan, what took a year ??????

because that is just unbelieveable

also, hugs for the blues ๐Ÿซ‚

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 1 points 2 days ago

A year of talking to banks to be approved for a loan iirc.

Neglecting to remember my dad, who has never owned his own house and only had one child which he never had any custody of, despite working his arse off since he was 18 and kicked out by Opa (their relationship has long since been repaired).

She's out of touch. She's a wonderful person, but so woefully unaware of the struggles of her youngest brother, let alone her own children or niblings.

The Martian audiobook review

hear me out ...lol

This reminded me of a Dickens novel. It was written as a serial, tho unlike a Dickens serial the whole story is definitely planned . It has eccentric characters, some with amusing names, it's a first person narrative, it gives detailed descriptions of thought, action and setting, the main character is strongly self reliant and adapts well, there are many adventures/trials of spirit.

It was an enjoyable story. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Four hobbits.

Feels like minus 3.5 outside. Looks like today will be the first iced over car of the season.
