There is so much going on it's hard to figure out what this ad is for. Pizzas? Those cans on the right?

Or the ones in the middle!

God I miss the 90s

I had to search to figure this out. It's an ad for skateboards.

Shorties are skateboard bearings

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 9 points 20 hours ago

Ahh, I had forgotten about that brand. Thanks. I was just thinking "shortys hardware, huh, must be some Canadian hardware store chain"

Great bearings, I wouldn't use anything else. Ad rings a bell too, I might have seen it.

93 is vintage. Sigh. I wouldn’t have been old enough to legally drink that beer.

Also someone should probably card that girl.

Also someone should probably card that girl.

Classic early 90s edgy advertising.

The target audience is skateboarding in the background; everything on the bed is something an edgy skateboarding teen would want (except weed, not shown. Too edgy).

The fine print says “send hate mail to” 🙄

What in christ is on that pizza!?

[–] edg@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Spinach? Maybe an alfredo pizza?

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Broccoli maybe?

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I thought it was an ad for shorts.

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

technically, it's for skateboards. but i don't know why.

I'm surprised this was allowed in 1993 adverts

Check out some of the video game ads from that period. Pretty wild stuff.

Check out what Marzocchi's marketing team was publishing for mountain bikers in the 90's/early 00's. The calendar my local bike shop had pinned up was basically softcore porn.

Man, we got a job to do a demo in one of the old steel mills here. Just remove some framing for the rollers and fill the holes. a few months of work. Got to explore the shit out that plant. It got closed in the early 2000s. There was porn everywhere. You open any door, porn. You open a desk, stacks, and stacks of porn magazines. You open a locker, full sized porn. You open a toolbox, yep there it is titties. You go to the bathroom.... oddly, no porn. You walk into an office porn, hiding.

Like they say, going is a problem these days. Nah, the lads back then did it just as much.
