But of course!

Really good unKAOS day. Started off by doomscrolling but then did a dumbbells workout I found on YouTube, took dog for his tiny walk, completed day 1 of C25k, cooked some daal and now I'm going to do some music practise and put on a movie. I feel the best I've felt in a long time :)

Absolutely kickin' ass, I love this! What movie are you going to watch?

I swear Alfie is having the kind of day where he is deliberately annoying me. Leave me alonneeeee!!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

What's it all about

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I've got a cousin moving to Australia in a couple of weeks. It'll be the first family member I've seen since I was in high school.

Kind of exciting, but also nervous.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

As someone who has relatives in other countries that I barely know, I would say don’t put too much pressure on it. If you click well and become friends that’s really awesome. But if you haven’t had contact for a long time (or ever?), look at it like meeting a stranger. Not everyone will be compatible and if you don’t feel a connection that’s ok too.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

this is awesome 😊

and also the first time they have seen you in ages and they are moving too, they must be excited and nervous too

RIP Derryn Hinch. He was controversial but I liked his no bullshit attitude, and naming and shaming pedo priests.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

What pisses me off about Mr Hinch is that he got a kidney transplant by pulling a LOT of strings to go to the top of the list, then once the transplant had taken, he went out and celebrated by getting drunk. Can't argue with his campaign against pedos and the like, but he could also do major cognitive dissonance without blinking an eye. Not sorry he's gone - one good thing doesn't imo balance out his commitment to being oppositional for the publicity feelgoods in the worst way.

EDIT: he lived before clicks and views, but that was what drove him. An obligate hypocrite of the deepest dye. FURTHER EDIT: and a close friend of Rolf Harris.

It is so beautiful outside, enjoy your walk!

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Grocery shopping done.

House cleaned.

Daughter going to concert.

Dan Murphy's had a clearance on some interesting liquor.

Still have some work to finish, but start to weekend is looking pretty sweet.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ooh what interesting liquor did you get?

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Couple of aussie whiskeys. Coastal Stone (blended) for under $40. And another that I can't recall now. Also an aussie Agave alcohol..which could be tequila and a Mezcal that was like $45.

Think we spent like $170 on 4 bottles. They'll last for some time too.

Is she going to the metal band Gaerea? I'd like to go but probably won't make it. Ask her how they are for me

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

She's going to The Neighbourhood. Apparently quite popular amongst the youth.

Not really into metal 😁

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

A nice ride to lunch with the family on an unofficial day off. I haven't been riding as much recently so it's always nice to get on there when I can

allergy news

since I have cut 99% of dairy out of my diet I no longer have tingly lips and nose and I no longer have a sore throat. I had a sore throat for 8 months. So been better for about 3 weeks. It's a great relief.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

I just remembered, Gaerea isn't the technical 3 guitar band. That's Unprocessed. Gaerea is the all black wearing black metal band. I wonder what crowd crossover there will be of the Deafheaven show last night and tonight

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Off to a DnB thing tonight at the carlton club. Never been. Looks like a very nice place going from the photos.

Free and $10 pints (apparently). Bit suspicious of the pints though.

Look up 762 Media if you want some good long form train content. They do documentaries on trains and train lines around here. And with their view counts they're in it for the love of the game

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Up early for an NBN tech to come over, hoping that's done nice and easy and then I have absolutely no idea what I want to do today.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Try and google a quote (spike slapping wet concrete avenue 5) . Get an ai summary that might look promosing. It's two lines of that quote and fourteen paragraphs on the etymology of the phrase. Tell summary to fuck off. Google spike "like slapping wet". Google now claims no results

And that’s why we need to build ginormous data centers, using up megalitres of drinking water and the power of a small town. So that Google can give worse answers than it did 3 years ago. Apparently it’s called β€˜progress’
