Almost as if the climate in general has changed somewhat.
Thanks, I couldn't remember whether this last/first happened in 2023 or 2024. Remember people taking pictures in Times Square then of even more yellow/orange skies? I saw several people wearing masks outside today. I've got to get some (walking, exercise, etc.) as this is the new normal*
`* (things won't stay this bad they will only get worse. It's useful remembering that ~50% of all fossil fuels we've ever burned were burned in like the last 15 years)

I remember someone asking on here yesterday morning why the skies in Montreal were yellow. Toronto skies have been distinctly and unusually yellow this morning. I did a search to figure out why. From the article it seems like "Torontonians advised to limit time outdoors due to high smoke levels from wildfires: Environment Canada" was predictable based on known forest fire activity going into this week. But I guess such hazardous air quality (affecting millions) this isn't publishable news until people in Toronto are genuinely confused by the colour in the sky.
This whole under-reporting of climate ~~change~~ crisis is wild

The issue is that Canadians are horrible at demanding their representatives pass electoral reform.
yeah it's bad out. you can smell it. I live downtown and buildings fire alarms are going off left right and center. Woke up this morning and thought a neighbour was BBQing at 5am. just smelled like charcoal.

While weather refers to short-term changes in the atmosphere, climate refers to atmospheric changes over longer periods of time, usually 30 years or more.
This ain't weather. This is climate and one that is only going to get worse as politicians, corporations, and unthinking/duped voters continuous dragging their heels on addressing the crisis

All life on Earth depends on the Sun and would cease without it. Humans shouldn't be so careless with the only atmosphere we'll ever have. Our ongoing destruction of Earth's atmosphere and other natural resources is where the problem lies, not with the Sun

We had sun when I was a kid, we didn't have this.
Analyzing a problem rationally, such as by separating modifiable and non-modifiable factors allows us to identify where and how we can intervene effectively to do something about the "unbearable heat we now get every summer." Instead, angering at the non-modifiable sun is channeling hopelessness or signalling defeat and, most importantly, is a vote to maintain business as usual (eg, more fossil fuels) versus advocating for Green Transition Now. Angering at the sun is the proverbial 'putting one's head in the ground'
