i recently learned that after a cocoon forms the caterpillar basically dissolves into a goo of fats and amino acids, leaving behind only the brain and heart and in that biological soup the entire butterfly is reformed around those key organs

i never really considered how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly before but i didnt expect that

biology is magical like when i learned that the fallopian tubes are not connected to ovaries

The ovarian fimbria are wild fingerlike projections that sweep up the eggs from the ovaries into the mouth of the tube.

Also check out the caterpillar's imaginal discs. Also pretty wild.
