Now at episode 5, it's kind funny that Scully saw a bunch of weird, unexplainable stuff in the first few episode and even freaked out by a few mosquitoes bite, and still trying to proof Mulder wrong.

If you don't like gross horror, I'd recommend skipping 4.02 "Home". While it's a favorite of fans of certain types of horror, it made some people completely stop watching the show.

If you decide to stop watching before season 4, I'd recommend still watching Darin Morgan's episodes, which are very funny. Especially:

  • X-Files 2.20 "Humbug"
  • X-Files 3.04 "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose"
  • X-Files 3.12 "War of the Coprophages" (by far my favorite, tho Darin's least)
  • X-Files 3.20 "Jose Chung's From Outer Space"
  • Millennium 2.21 "Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me" (the spin-offs Millennium and The Lone Gunmen aren't very good, but this episode is amazing).

There are 3 more (M2.09, X10.3, and X11.4), but I wouldn't recommend watching them.

Scully will literally give birth to a tentacle monster, and then in the next episode she’s back to “clearly people just saw light bouncing off a strut”.

literally sees aliens doing weird alien shit

"I was merely confused by swamp gas, Mulder!"

"It's just some really good jet pilot doing some weird light stunt, Mulder!"

Wait till they switch the roles for one episode and go back to the usual skeptical Scully. It's weird and funny.

Spouse and I watched it a few years ago and enjoyed the whole series a lot. Make sure to watch the Lone Gunmen series as well.

Youngsters will never know how insane it was having an episode of The Lone Gunmen become real life.

I mean, the x files was mostly right about everything, it's just the shapeshifters and ghosts and aliens are actually just insane billionaire pedophiles.

Yeah but only The Lone Gunmen got an episode pulled because it was about a 9/11 style event... before 9/11 within the same year if i recall correctly.

Yeah, enjoying it thus far, Scully's scepticism is what help pull Mulder out from trouble a lot of time.
