He’s not dead. I think he’s probably braindead and in a vegetative state. They’re keeping his comatose body alive until next month to get past the special election deadline. That’s why his wife flew off to China, so she’s not in the country to issue a “pull the plug” order.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 11 points 1 day ago

He's been braindead for decades, so it's probably just hard to tell

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's 2026 and you can't even be sure which US government members are alive and which are dead

CHAPTER 115—TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES

That's it. If McConnell was dead and they kept him in office it is Treason (115 Subversive Activity). If they voted or placed any activity whatsoever in his place that is treason and has no statute of limitations.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

Seems illegal. Especially with him being a public servant and all. This is what happens when those with not much more than a middle-school mentality are guarding the henhouse and making shit up as they go along. No more foundational bedrock anymore.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 208 points 2 days ago (19 children)

If the news of his death breaks on Aug 4th you know it was a scam.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 131 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Abusing the electoral process to further a fascist agenda is how he wanted to go out

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The entire position of this government is, "oh yeah, well what are YOU gonna do about it? I am in charge here" Real corpo leadership mentality.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

That’s not corpo leadership, it’s fascist dictatorship (which many corpo leaders also aspire to be).

[–] grue@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If Gov. Beshear has any balls or patriotism whatsoever, he'll appoint a replacement on August 3 in any circumstance short of McConnell actually being present in the Congress building.

I already know it's a scam. The only thing I'll find out in the future is what kind of scam it is.

MITCH MCCONNELL IS DEAD

BECAUSE HES FUCKING DEAD AND US REPUBLICANS ARE CRIMINALS.

MOST OF ALL THE PEDO FELON IN CHIEF

[–] allama@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago

This may be a time to put "U.S." I was confused at first.

Serious question: what is stopping Beshear from calling for a special election right now? Like seriously.

“The people of the great state of Kentucky have been without proper representation in the senate for over a month. Since Mitch McConnell has abandoned his post as Senator I am calling a special election for his replacement immediately.”

Make them PROVE he is still alive.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yep, call for the election, and make MAGA sue. If they do, they'll have to prove he's alive, and if they can't, then they get to go to prison.

Call their bluff. They're lying, they're ALWAYS lying.

Alive and capable of representing KY

The fact that he's a pussy.

He's dead & they are 100% committing fraud by continuing to receive a pay check a month after the fact.

Beshear should appoint a replacement & let the GOP deal with the fallout.

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 84 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

This. Appoint his replacement and then let them prove he’s alive.

He's probably "technically" alive thanks to an IV infusion of pure malice and a bunch of machines they'll unplug on August 4.

Mitch the bitch would have loved all this stonewalling if he were still alive.

Not one journalist in the entire country is capable of finding the truth about what's going on. Pathetic.

Yeah, he's definitely dead.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Let's not jump to conclusions now. He might just be brain dead.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

How is that any different from the last 10 years?

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 48 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He’s 💀💯.

Surely its illegal to lie about an elected official’s alive/unalive status?

Oh wait, it’s the fascist/GOP party.

[–] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It's precisely because they know it's illegal that they aren't saying anything. If they don't overtly lie and just refuse to talk, they won't obviously open themselves up to prosecution by a later administration (in theory, though I am sure a motivated prosecutor will be able to make a case either way).

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago (6 children)

The sad part about all this is that Americans are still going to see the Republican party as a viable political entity instead of the fascist traitors they are.

Yea he's definitely dead.

[–] shirasho@feddit.online 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If a senator is absent, their vote should not count. Period. It is not deferred, and nobody can vote on their behalf. It is straight up not counted.

This is what Republicans want for midterm and presidential voting, so why does it not apply to senetors?

This would incentivise them to elect healthy people and quickly replace people who can not do their job.

It's because Mitch McConnell is dead, and the Republican MO in all things is treachery.

[–] Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Can we please have age limits. Senators shouldn’t be dying of old age in office. You can’t run after the age of 70

And the Dem just sits patiently waiting. Fucking appoint a replacement.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I know, right? I called fifty times to ask if he can still get hard and they hung up on me every time.

EDIT: I have just set everyone up for a lot of rigor mortis jokes, have I not?

yes, they dont want to be held to account for lying about it. If he was alive they would 100% just attest to it.
