Can we just call them hostile invaders and stop all this "settler" nonsense. ?

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I hate that these marauders, raiders, and murderers are euphemistically referred to as 'settlers'.
For real. Settlers makes me imagine hardworking folks taking care of land and animals in remote places, not roving bands of armed violent psychopaths.
Stop calling them "settlers" ffs it's a word designed to invoke an image of unclaimed land in the American general populace. They're burglars, invaders, and murderers.
Settlers were always all of those things tbf. Even the dehumanizing propaganda and ethnic cleansing tactics have barely changed
Settlers were always all of those things tbf
This is why the conservatives are winning. Because they understand how propaganda works on the common masses and not just themselves.
Abso-fucking-lutely.
Spot on. By the same logic we should say Russian settlers in Ukraine.
I've been calling them Colonists and came here to make that correction.
Israeli pillagers*
Raiders
*Terrorists
Yeah settlers doesn't feel like the correct word. Invaders?
Nazis
Israeli soldiers were nearby, watching the settlers without intervening, Turabi said.
They were providing security. They would intervene if anyone tried defending themselves.
It seems that the settlers were shooting at the Palestinians, after wrestling the gun from them and shooting them back, THEN the Israeli soldiers responded back, killing the villagers.
Fucking monsters
*CUNTS WORTHY OF A KILLSHOT
Armed funded and protected by NATO. They know they can get away with anything.
Israel isn't in NATO wtf are you talking about?
In 2009, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer stated that Israel could not become a member of the organization and enjoy the obligations of joint protection provided for in Article 5 unless a peace agreement was concluded with the Palestinians, as well as until another Arab state joined the alliance.
Wow, NATO is awesome, thanks Chinese propaganda bot!
Yeah dude, for sure
In May 1958, Israel was invited to a meeting of the Council of Europe. After that, a special commission was set up to discuss Israel's possible participation in the NATO economic procurement program.[5] After that, Israel began to supply weapons and military equipment to the countries that are part of this organization.[6][7]
In December 1987, Israel signed a memorandum with the United States on the status of a major non-NATO ally. This status was awarded by the US administration to particularly close allies with whom it maintains strategic relations but is not a member of the organization.[8][9] This step was initiated by Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin.[10] The memorandum strengthened ties between the two countries in the field of defense research, development and procurement. It also included logistical support for Israel. The document compared Israel's status in the United States with that of a NATO member, which allowed it to participate in and gain access to U.S. security development programs. The memorandum also simplified the access of the Israeli defense industry to tenders from NATO countries. This was supposed to make it easier for them to participate in the tenders of the NATO countries.[11]
In November 2017, Israel and NATO signed an agreement on the mutual exchange of security information.[25]
On February 9, 2018, a cooperation agreement was signed between Israel and NATO. This agreement gave Israeli companies the opportunity to participate in NATO tenders.[26]

A few weeks ago, Commander of NATO Maritime Command Vice Admiral Keith Blount said, “Israel has been an important partner to NATO for more than 20 years as well as an active member of [the] Mediterranean Dialogue.”

not to mention Operation Gladio
If you think any of that is awesome, that's a huge yikes
Who is bombing Iran for Israel right now?
The head of NATO was recently asked what would happen if Israel attacked Turkey. He refused to answer.
Israel is not in NATO. Israel runs NATO.
This is what Russia wants you to believe.
Because if it wasn't for NATO, Russia would also be in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania right now.
You won't make me give up my military alliance no matter how hard you try, fascists.
