They say it's hard to make friends in your 30's / 40's.

2 exceptions.

  1. Eating food at the dog beach..

  2. Federal emergency warning system.

A very attractive police woman complemented my vehicle last night during a booze bus stop. File under: β€œCommunity engagement”

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

The booze bus sounds much more fun than it is.

Off in the distance I hear sick d&b beats being dropped; it's the perfect soundtrack to an inner Melbourne evening.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

sick d&b beats

Eeee! Bless their cotton socks.

James Iha's guitar stuff is fucking awesome.

ooh reminds me it's almost time for my annual pilgrimage of blowing my fucking windows out to Melon Collie

I love that album but Siamese dream is my holy smashing pumpkins album.

Bill Oddie has dropped off the twig. Much missed.

Discombobulated in general

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

And specifically?

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Anyone want to tell me a tale about why this bus is so sticky?

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You see, when a Methaniel and a bus love each other very much...

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

I'm going to need new shoes

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

Also I managed to crack into a laptop I had trouble opening before. Turns out there were screws UNDER the rubber feet. I know companies do this sometimes but this is the first I encountered it myself, not great for repairability as they probably expect you to buy more rubber feet of them to replace the ones you ripped off.

Reminds me of the dungeons in Elden Ring where you'd get stuck and it turns out the rest of the area is UNDER one of the lifts.

Get to work, computer says no. IT says do this x 8. Don't know, fuck it bring us the hardware. I foresee very little getting done today.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

That was cool!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

Back in the office after the almost week off. Fortunately there isn't too much to catch up on. A lot of emails are just from head office Sharepoint. They don't seem to realise not everyone in the organisation needs to know about when the local cafe is doing 30c off coffee

Mickey just bit the soft flesh of my knee pit. I don't think I've ever squealed so loudly so early.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

You don't realise how soft and vulnerable the backs of your legs are until a cat gets Chompy

My new driving glasses worked well. It's nice being able to read those adjustable speed signs over the freeway a bit sooner.

You don’t have to wear them, you know.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

no, I'm gonna.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Same here. I'm definitely alert, but no powers evident yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing what superpowers I get from the activation of my Covid chip. You don't think I'll miss out because I haven't had a booster for a few years, do you?

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

I think my dna has been irretrievably altered - I'm looking forward to seeing what new superpowers are unlocked for me.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

I've set a gentle alarm to go off a couple of minutes beforehand to remind myself... but except I'll still jump through the roof when it happens!! I'm surprised by the amount of people who don't know about it.

There's a price update meeting I'm straight up keeping out of. We had a price increase a few months ago where it's quite complicated to have that reflected in a catalogue. We're doing it again and it seems like no one has learnt from last time. I don't need to be part of these conversations that retread the same ground.

This is what prompted people to ask if AI could reconcile the price differences between a spreadsheet and a PDF. The answer was no then and it's still no now

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

cold out there , no gloves, hand hurts

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

It's a Melbourne day today - breakfast with a view of the Dandenongs.
