Well yeah, there’s only so much you can do to fix mental and personality issues. The things wrong with Elon cannot be fixed by money alone.

For us normal folks though? You just TRY to be unhappy while getting your dick sucked by a supermodel in your million dollar Ferrari parked in front of your mansion the size of a French palace. Physically impossible.

[–] Englishgrinn@lemmy.ca 4 points 14 hours ago

I disagree - I could easily be unhappy in that scenario and I think I'm pretty normal*. I get that normal is subjective, but I'm not like on medication, or in treatment for anything.

I think I would immediately be really insecure about having to buy sex and how the only reason people love me is my money and I'm incapable of intimacy from a genuine place. I think I would immediately feel shame at having purchased a Ferrari while not knowing anything about cars. I think I would feel guilty having a big house to live in all by myself, and probably would never buy it to begin with.

That isn't to say I couldn't make myself happy with money -I could give a fuckton of it away to worthy causes and basically feel good about myself immediately despite not really working very hard or personally accomplishing much. That feels like a cheat code to me. "Yeah, I didn't lose twenty pounds this year like I wanted or write my novel despite having tons of free time, but I gave away a Billion Dollars to cancer research and another Billion to RAICES and another Billion to the ACLU and another Billion to the Trevor Project. So basically, I'm fucking awesome." But even then, I think over like a decade or similar, the lack of personal involvement would eventually make me embarrassed.

I think that's why hiring sycophants (or now building them from AI) is such a popular remedy for the obscenely wealthy. A chorus of voices to drown out your own insecurity about how you didn't earn it, didn't use to better yourself, didn't find real happiness. And why reality checks drive these people nuts.

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it's comfier to cry in a Mercedes than a Lada

Even grok knew better than to burn tokens generating some friends in those pictures.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He is only 55! Thats a rough 55 for having all the money in the world. I don't mean go get plastic surgery, but you would think he would be able to take better care of himself. Man, imagine what he would look like if he was never rich? For starters no hair.

The present muskrat is the "good looking, money muskrat". Without the money he would look like a goblin, as his skinsuit tries to match his soul. "Taking better care of himself" could have only been fixing that soul of his.

I know other billionaires are super duper evil too, with fettid insides. I'm saying that's just how much worse his is. The things he wants to do to humanity are top tier, once-every-few-generation horrors. They are so bad, other rich people, thiel not included, just can't keep up.

[–] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Rumor has it he tries all the anti-aging experimental stuff, and of course that would take a toll.

Ironic.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I heard jumping in a swimming pool with a toaster stops you from aging.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Too much water. Has to be a bathtub to really get the anti aging working. Also, need to make sure it's not one of those woke GFCI plugs.

[–] MML@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Has to be plugged in though

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I love watching the anti aging grift the billionaires spend their money on. You can't fight age but you can age healithily. That requires a healthy diet, exercise and stretching which is the one thing they won't try.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 189 points 2 days ago (12 children)

Money can absolutely buy happiness, but you have to be capable of feeling it. A trillion bucks would let anyone do amazing things that could make you incredibly happy.

However, the process of getting a trillion dollars requires that you're an evil psychopath incapable of experiencing pleasure.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 96 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (16 children)

Just think about how much happiness you'd get from:

  • Completely solving world hunger, single-handedly.

  • Massive vaccine roll-outs to eradicate or nearly eradicate some of the worst diseases.

  • Giving every single homeless person in the US a free house to live in.

  • So much hookers and blow.

And after all that, you'd still be a billionaire. Just getting started.

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Dude could be universally loved and become a living saint if he spent his money for good. Instead he'll just be remembered as just another greedy pathetic rich asshole.

[–] gh0stb4tz@lemmy.world 46 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The world would also celebrate your existence, not despise you.

[–] cokeslutgarbage@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I think about this all the time. If he just built electrified trains everywhere in the world and ended world hunger, I wouldn't even bat an eye if he also wanted to start a weird sex cult (with consenting adults). Chute dude, i'd probably sign up to incubate one of his sons.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 14 hours ago

Tbf if he just built electrified trains everywhere in the world, he'd run out of money before finishing a single continent.

Think about it: He doesn't have a trillion dollars (or even a few hundred billions) in liquid cash. It's all in the perceived value of Tesla, which is about 30x overvalued (price/earnings being around 300, 10 is considered a normal healthy value). The more electrified trains everywhere, the fewer cars needed.

[–] gh0stb4tz@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Your handle/name made your last sentence even more amazing.

I'd almost feel bad for him if he wasn't such a massive piece of shit.

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 104 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Never forget that Elon is such a colossal looser, that even Epstein, the most despicable piece of shit on earth, wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

This is the type of special that Elon brings to the world.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I've seen this repeated a few times, and it never sits right with me, because it sounds like Epstein's opinion on somebody suddenly matters.

There's plenty evidence to make the case against Mee-lon without resorting to a systematic pedophile's track record.

Is there a particular reason to think this is not really his mother? Or is the joke to simply assume that?

[–] yogurt@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago

One time Elon posted about how he can't be out of touch because his grandmother was poor, and his "mom" immediately replied and agreed with him, but it sounded like she was confusing his dad's mom with her own mom, so everybody assumes Elon was posting as her and fucked it up.

[–] Gloomy@mander.xyz 55 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yes, i wondered the same. I don't want to assume this is correct just because it fits into my worldview.

I did a bit of digging. This post is bullshit. There are multiple photos from the event and the cake around. And the account, as far as is can tell, is run by his mother.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

Plenty of real stuff we can still hate him for though: the video game cheating, transphobia, epstein stuff, transphobia, doge, list goes on

[–] wulrus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The left and the right are NOT the same. Only one of them works at least in the general direction of a future that can work, for everyone.

But the level of lies, propaganda, deception, gaslighting absolutely is. Every single time I read something implausible, like this, and dig deeper, it turns out to be complete and utter BS, like some left mirror version of Trump. ALL of it.

Again, the lies are on the same level, not the policies.

This photo shows the exact opposite: A heartfelt congratulations post from a mother, a wonderful cake. Note how they decided to lie about this, even though they could easily have talked about the family relation that is NOT intact, his daughter. But no, they don't want to talk about his daughter and how he treats her. They want to smear the mother-son relationship with lies.

And I would also point out that criminals who have not yet been convicted by a court (and never may be in this case, different problem) have the same right to a great birthday party with loving family as everybody else.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

have the same right to a great birthday party with loving family as everybody else.

Of course they have the "right". That doesn't mean anyone has to support it.

But, yes, there are plenty of true reasons to hate and mock this asshole without making shit up.

Flip a coin. She looks evil enough to love Elon.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Ngl fam. She looks like she's about to skin 101 dalmatian puppies to make her coat.

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not too far from the truth, except she wouldn't do that herself of course.

[–] pachrist@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Nah, just some indigenous workers who are under their emerald quota for the day. Dalmatians are so blasé.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 7 points 1 day ago

She looks like the fucking joker.

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 1 day ago

Oh god. She has major "mom from futurama" vibes

[–] Dookieman12@piefed.social 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She looks evil enough to skin a toddler alive because she needs a dinner napkin

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hide yo kids. Hide yo dalmations.

richest MAN in the world

Is being awfully generous to that sack of shit.

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

I'm 99.9% sure you are right on this. Just to be sure, would anyone mind giving me a few billion dollars for a Brewster's Millions type of experiment?

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I see no friends and family in those pictures. Even his a.i. generated fantasies make him look like a loser.

(edit: fixed typo. Thanks, hperrin)

If you read her post with a female evil laughter after the read, it all makes sense.
