A single user has created 35 different porn communities in the last month. There are then seemingly endless alt accounts that post some random screenshot from a porn site with what looks like ai generated titles. Is there anything that can be done about this?

It is incredibly obnoxious behavior. I don't know what to report, so I just block them. Each day there are a few more communities.

Edit: The mod of each community is elefant on lemmy.world.

8tr on lemmy.world is on the ones that elefant is not.

Have you been reporting the communities and posts with some detail in the report? I haven't seen any come across but would suggest that would be the first step in trying to stop inauthentic bot activity.

lemmy doesn't support reporting communities yet.

post reports will go to community mods as well, and the mod can resolve the reports.

it's recommended to message @lwreport@lemmy.world with details for anything that requires admin attention to ensure it gets through to the team.

Is this specific issue at least something that admins are aware of?

if the accounts you're referring to (i don't know which ones) are still up then we're likely not aware of it. we are aware of spam accounts and ban them from time to time as we become aware of them, but they can easily slip through the cracks as well.

These are all communities made by or moderated by elefant or 8tr, both on lemmy.world. There's a new community or two every day, then after a couple weeks they get a generic post from a different account. I'm not sure exactly what rule they're breaking, but it does seem to be coordinated and in bad faith.
