Kilroy was there over 50 years before the dancing baby.

Yeah but...we're doing solely Internet-based memes I thought. If not, there's probably some you can dig up from a thousand years ago.

Oh I feel old already. I even forgot about this.

[-] everythingsucks@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That’s okay gramps. It’s just your Alzheimer’s kicking in.

[-] Efwis@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 year ago

I have been looking for that for a while now. I was thinking about making a retro site that had some of the older animations like that

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago

Don't forget the flaming mailbox gifs, repeating brick background, and under construction sign.

[-] Efwis@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Absolutely. If anyone has access to any retro animations or memes like this dancing baby dm me

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Was about to say Zombo.com too but then I remembered it's actually still up after all these years.

[-] Jackolantern@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Damn I just went there. Is there an end to the Ugandan knuckles voice over?

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The joke back then was you'd give the link to a friend and watch them sit there for 5 minutes looking at the neverending "loading" screen. A ton of (what were then new) flash based websites overused it and loading screens were common, so people expected to wait a bit before everything was loaded in. Everything beyond simple static HTML was done with plugins and applets.

Time to find a dancing baby screensaver again.

Now as NFTs!

I remember when that stupid dancing baby actually made it to prime time TV. Roughly the beginning of eternal September.
