In all its bloody triumphs over the self-sacrificing champions of a new and better society, that nefarious civilization, based upon the enslavement of labor, drowns the moans of its victims in a hue-and-cry of calumny, reverberated by a world-wide echo. The serene working men’s Paris of the Commune is suddenly changed into a pandemonium by the bloodhounds of “order.”

And what does this tremendous change prove to the bourgeois mind of all countries? Why, that the Commune has conspired against civilization! The Paris people die enthusiastically for the Commune in numbers unequally in any battle known to history. What does that prove? Why, that the Commune was not the people’s own government but the usurpation of a handful of criminals! The women of Paris joyfully give up their lives at the barricades and on the place of execution. What does this prove? Why, that the demon of the Commune has changed them into Megaera and Hecates!

The moderation of the Commune during the two months of undisputed sway is equalled only by the heroism of its defence.

What does that prove? Why, that for months the Commune carefully hid, under a mask of moderation and humanity, the bloodthirstiness of its fiendish instincts to be let loose in the hour of its agony!

The working men’s Paris, in the act of its heroic self-holocaust, involved in its flames buildings and monuments. While tearing to pieces the living body of the proletariat, its rulers must no longer expect to return triumphantly into the intact architecture of their abodes. The government of Versailles cries, “Incendiarism!” and whispers this cue to all its agents, down to the remotest hamlet, to hunt up its enemies everywhere as suspect of professional incendiarism. The bourgeoisie of the whole world, which looks complacently upon the wholesale massacre after the battle, is convulsed by horror at the desecration of brick and mortar!

Got curious but couldn't find anything similar to marxists.org but for prominent anarchist authors, specially for non-english languages.

Last couple weeks have been very intense for me emotionally, and I noticed I was a short stress session away from snapping and doing unsafe things.

The internet didn't really help as all results were "how to calm a meltdown in autistic children" or shit like that.

I really like whistling and was at home, so I randomly did a 1 hour freestyle whistling spree which really helped, and probably annoyed my neighbours way less than loud banging noises and screaming would have. My head feels a bit light from all the intense breathing lol.

If I'm outside and have the time, I also try climbing trees or large debris, or sprint as if I'm late. I have no idea what to when in an enclosed professional space other than pretending to go to the bathroom.

What's your favourite meltdown-delaying technique?

Besides being a fucking ugly graph where you can barely read the node labels, I also like that this one pretty much admits democrats are clustered along the other reactionaries.

They also don't describe how they even got that clustering (or the network itself) in the first place. I think it's safe to assume they either nicked it from the web or got an inexperienced intern to just do whatever with a Jupyter notebook.

Is it a network of "common posters"? Of links in sidebar? In cross-posts?

Data science is what happens when "programmers think they are experts in everything that deals with computers" is taken to its most extreme. This field needs a purge, for the sake of all actual statisticians.

Science is when you never show your methodology, because it came to you in ~~a dream~~ a linear regression.

Edit: why the heck is Anarcho_Capitalism plotted between Feminism, feminisms and Radical_Feminism?

Online games will now be banned from giving players rewards if they log in every day, if they spend on the game for the first time or if they spend several times on the game consecutively. All are common incentive mechanisms in online games.

As a person who is very prone to game addiction, to the point where I refuse to play online games, this is a very welcome change. Hope the pressure impacts companies abroad.

Depending on how receptive he is (and I'm assuming he's a Yankee), send him some Parenti material. You can either start coy with something like his talk about the "Assassination of Julius Caesar" book that's pretty tame, or just go straight for the Yellow one or Blackshirts and the Reds if you're feeling bold. Parenti has a way with words and is more relatable with his New York accent than translated books from distant or long-dead communists.

And always make sure to ask what he thinks, make it a conversation not a one-sided lecture. Eventually he'll say something you don't know about yet, so don't dismiss it out of hand, but try to investigate his claims with him. If all goes well you'll both come out of it wiser.

So long as you are not confrontational and keep it respectful and educational, and most importantly acknowledge when you don't know something you shouldn't fear making him mad. Because if you do it with kindness and he still gets mad, that's all on him for not being respectful back. That's a bad sign for the friendship, not just the political divergences.

Ewoks shouldn't have fought back, they should've led peaceful protests to vote the Emperor out.

Tinder has rolled out its promised high-end membership, a pricey $499 per month subscription dubbed “Tinder Select,” which includes unique perks like the ability to be seen by more users, including Tinder’s “most sought after profiles,” the ability to direct message others without matching and other VIP-level features.

This could not go wrong in any way at all. Imagine being sued for ignoring abuse reports, and deciding to monetise the abuse itself.

There are usually half a million homeless people in the USA. That means that they could've bought each and every one of those a 200k dollar home with that money. They could also have paid a total of 50 million months of rent at the 2000$ median price. And this is even taking as a premise that housing should be sellable or rentable in the first place. And yet they preferred this instead.

Any Yankee around still not convinced that the USA government needs to end, this is your moment to reconsider.

Film workers will get better working conditions, and we won't have more buzz about Marvel movies. It's a win-win.

Also a good amount of productions were already halted due to the WGA strike that has been ongoing for 70 days. Unionize, y'all!

Ah yes, war in Ukraine, very relevant to the climate crisis. I think she's gone the "Neil de Grasse Tyson way" of being famous for a thing and just hopping onto whatever is tangentially related and popular right now. Disappointing, but what would you expect from lib group that thinks they invented striking, and have no tangible demands? She's not relevant and the only reason libs think she is is because she's a white European who obeys the law. Go ask what they think of the (still very mild) Extinction Rebellion.

the linked tweet is some scary rhetoric too.

Ukraine will definitely be able to protect Europe from any Russian forces, and it doesn't matter who commands them. We will protect. The security of Europe's eastern flank depends only on our defense.

Ukrainian soldiers, Ukrainian guns, Ukrainian tanks, Ukrainian missiles are all that protect Europe from such marches as we see today on Russian territory. And when we ask to give us the F-16 fighters or the ATACMS, we're enhancing our common defense. Real defense.

We went from "Europe will protect Ukraine" to "Ukraine will protect Europe" really quick didn't we? Are Ukrainians now aware that they're just dying to maintain an union they're not part of? Can't the all-mighty Europeans protect themselves anymore?
