I highly recommend this video about bad spell check corrections, mainly from Grammarly:

(Having trouble getting an invidious link right now, would appreciate one if anyone else is able to!)

Yeah, not being a kid and knowing enough about Five Nights at Freddy's is a major red flag, good that he recognises that (but still bad that he even has to in the first place).

Not with a good ad and annoyances blocker. I reformatted my hard drive recently and the few pages I had to visit before installing that really opened my eyes to how bad it is, and how most people just live with it being. Hadn't experienced much of any of these the past several years, and it has gotten a lot worse since I did. I've noticed that most people I know who are not that tech-savvy have stopped going to websites or even trying anything online other than a very small selection of apps, and now that makes total sense.

My family had 4 cats when I was born, all had been found as stray kittens or literally come to the door and begged to get in (second story of an apartment building with lots of other choices of doors). We found the owner of one and they just said "keep him, we realised a while ago we shouldn't have gotten a pet in the first place".
Then when I was a teenager a cat came to our door just the same, during a huge storm, went directly into my room where I was sleeping and laid down basically on top of me and stayed there the whole night. I remember waking up thinking "who the fuck is this?".
We bonded immediately and he became mine more than ours. A few weeks after that we found the family he had come from and they also just told us to keep him because they had two 3-year-olds who weren't playing nicely with him and they saw that he had a better home with us.
He moved out with me when I got my own apartment and we were best friends till he passed about 10 years later (he was already 5 when he came to us). Haven't gotten a pet of any kind since then, he was the best cat and friend I've ever had/known. Still dream about him at least once a month and it's been 8 years since he passed.

It's been awesome to see how it went from something you had to go to vegan only stores or order online to now when it's the norm, now it's just checking every kind you buy because a few still have animal products in them but as you said, it's mostly vegan. It's just non-dark chocolate that's normally not vegan now, and I don't expect that to change.

Diversity is everywhere, the US isn't special (in any good way, at least).

Dude, seriously? This is the biggest whoosh I've seen one a good while. How the fuck did you not realise they were making a joke?

Americans are some of the worst at their own language, so it's not at all surprising they're not from elsewhere.

Just a random list of bands I like that are popular, talented, recent and/or currently active:

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Dungen

Bombino, Tinariwen and Imarhan

Altın Gün

Home

Future Islands

Glass Beams

I mostly listen to older music, 60s-90s, not for any reason other than that's the time frame where I find more music that I like. Still lots of good stuff today too though! And that's by far not a comprehensive list, just the ones I thought of right now.

Hey, I am forced to use Ubuntu 20.04 because it's the only distro and version currently supported by Shadow, which I use for several hours every day. (Yeah, it sucks that they haven't kept up with updates or support other distros...) And I'm trying to install Floorp browser but I get errors both via apt get install and via flatpak. Here are the two errors:

apt get install floorp
floorp : Depends: libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

flatpak install flathub one.ablaze.floorp
Looking for matches…
error: Unable to load summary from remote flathub: URI https://dl.flathub.org/repo/summary exceeded maximum size of 10485760 bytes

I'm pretty new to Linux so I have no idea what to do here. I found nothing helpful when searching these errors.

Hello! A few years ago I saw this really good movie that I can't stop thinking about but I forgot the name and just can't find it no matter how much I try.
I'm pretty sure it's from Eastern Europe, non-English language, made kinda recently (within the last 10 years I think).
The movie starts with a mother and her toddler hundreds of years ago who live in a small hut in the forest who gets visited by a witch (I think it's some specific folklore being. She kinda looks like a burn victim, whole body is scar tissue when we see her at the beginning of the movie) then the movie jumps a few years and we see the now kid (the toddler from before) go into a cave and is stuck in there for some time.
I can't remember exactly what happened during and right after that.
But the movie then begins its actually story of this witch who kills people and then transforms into them, basically copies their physical bodies, and then goes on to live as them for several years. She lives for a long time and during the movie we see the different people, both male and female, who she lives as.
Every time she becomes someone new she has to relearn basic things so she can't talk or do simple tasks, almost like a toddler in an adult body for a while.
Her thoughts are narrated most of the time, often as whispering, and we see and listen as she explores things like sex, relationships, being these different people and as she learns to live their lives. It's very close and personal to her, we basically experience it through her mind but see her as these people in second and third person (not actually game-like third person perspective, just that we see her characters from a perspective outside those people). I think we do see through her eyes sometimes, but I'm not sure about that.

Does anyone know what movie it might be? Or have any tips on websites or ways to search to help me find it? Thanks!!

Edit: this is crazy, I found it right after making this post... So many hours trying to find it before with nothing even being close. It's "You Won't Be Alone": https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8296030/

Hey! So I've hit a real wall for the first time since I started playing two years ago. No matter what I try I'm unable to beat any of the Wolf Hunt event missions. I've searched for info, looked at videos, asked in the warframe discord etc. and the answers are either you need these things that are hard to get or "git gud"...

I just started steel path yesterday and can handle those missions fine so far, done about 10, and have had no major issues with anything else (that I've tried). But I just die constantly when I try the first Wolf Hunt mission.

I've been recommended to use Laetum, which I do, but I get swamped by the hundreds of minions that spawn. I get past the first three small waves before you get to the arena, and get his health down fairly quickly, but once in the arena when the smaller enemies spawn endlessly I just can't kill them fast enough to give me time to hurt Wolf himself without dying every 15 seconds. Someone said to use Revenant Prime, but I don't have him. Any other frame that works?

I've soloed 99% of the game, mostly without guides or help other than the warframe wiki, so I'm aware that I'm lacking knowledge. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong or missing here. Any help at all is very much welcome, I'd love to beat this before the event ends in 7 hours.

PERKELEtor

(Is this a valid dad joke, or should I post it in the "normal" jokes community instead/also?)

What game is this? (lemmy.world)

Hey, I'm wondering that game this is? It's part of this video, the link should start at the time the game is shown:

https://youtu.be/o6t3zdIQgYg?t=158

If it doesn't, the game is shown from 2:38 to 2:44

I tried asking in the comments for the video but my comment gets deleted now matter what it type... really weird.

Hey! It's time for me to go back to Linux, I used it a lot about 15 years ago, Ubuntu at the tjme, but I haven't really kept up with everything. I have pretty specific needs so I hope someone knows the best option for me.

I have an old and shitty laptop so I only do a few things with it. Here's what I use it for, needs and preferences:

• I use Shadow for most things like gaming, creative stuff and anything else my potato can't handle, so the Shadow app needs to work well.
• I exclusively download entertainment via MEGA so the MEGA app needs to work.
• I use Spotify for music.

As for wishes about UX and UI. I like a MacOS style more than Windows, but I'm happy to try and play around with anything. I'm not huge on keyboard navigation, my back is kinda bad so using only the mouse or even a gamepad is what works best. I use a couple of different gamepads, but since it's mostly for Shadow and I forward the USB directly to it, I hope it should work no matter what distro.

I tried Pop!_OS but both the Shadow and MEGA apps were almost completely broken, both the ones from the Pop!_Shop and apps from their websites. I also didn't like the UX that much.

I have downloaded Linux Mint, but thought I should ask here before going ahead with installing it, it looks nice thought!

I want something that's as "ready to go" as possible, not too much fixing with drivers etc. I should be able to handle most things that come up, but I have limited mental energy to sit and fix stuff for hours and days.

I'm a sucker for good design and eye candy like blurred transparency etc. But it's definitely not a must, especially considering the limited hardware.

So, any recommendations and/or thoughts?

Thanks!

That's $3 for 15 eggs. Sadly not free-range, only cage-free.

Not sure if this is the best community for this post, does anyone have a better suggestion?

Hey! I'm trying to log in to pixeldroid via pixelfed.social but I keep getting "Web server is returning an unknown error" immediately after entering the instance domain. Tried searching around but found no other reports of this. And the website itself works fine in my browser.

On the right side of the image. They're inside the first rift you get to. Tried searching around the web but didn't find anything.

This started about two hours ago, website and other apps (like boost for lemmy) work fine. I tried disabling my adblocker (adguard), rebooting my phone, reinstalling and resetting the app. Might this be something to do with Lemmy 0.19?
