Sandwich? You're assuming the person didn't buy a single slice of toast, with butter.
That's closer to what $4.20 will getchya.

Seeing "the stars" for the first time is great, but being set back down to where they're out of reach is not super fun.

Original post caption:

I often come across my artworks on Pinterest, but recently i saw one of my pieces labeled as AI-generated by the platform. it gave me a strange feeling.

the Internet has never been my main source of references, but lately I've been relying even more on my own photos and on observing real life. as i mentioned in my stories before, leaving aside the well-known ethical concerns around AI training, there's something that personally makes me uncomfortable: I need everything in my art to be intentional and thoughtfully created. auto-generated art and ideas take away that sense of intention, and pixel art particularly requires thinking about individual pixels. so i can't imagine adding generated elements into my work, it would just feel foreign.

so this is the kind of chaos we're in: human art can be labeled as AI, scraped to train AI models, any image can now be AI-modified by X users right in the comments, and so on.

but i find peace in the meticulous process of creation and it's not possible to steal the human experience. I simply love drawing too much to give up.

You wake up having been gifted the ability to take time off of your life as a whole in exchange having more time in-the-moment--whether it's time to think, time to spend doing something or with people, time to hold onto something or someone, whatever. Others will be unaffected, this is personal.
The conversion ratio is ~6 hours of in-the-moment time --> ~1 year of life (or 1:1,460), and it only works one-way.

  • Do you use the ability at all?
  • If yes, how do you use it--large chunks sparingly or small moments regularly?
  • Do you 'spend' a significant amount or prioritize retaining lifespan?
  • What would you use it for?
  • If yes/no, what ratio would make it not worth it/worth it?
  • Would it be better to track usage rigorously or to remain unaware?
  • What psychological problems/trauma could usage cause you?
  • How would you feel if you found out someone you loved had been trading their time?
  • If no, what circumstances would convince you to?

Edit: I'm so glad to see diversity in the responses!
Thank you to all who are taking the time to give answers. I intend to respond more when i have time later. :)

Wow, this guy (CrimsonCasts) on the couch during the POE2 run is killing the explanation (positive).

For me, good explanation of what is going on is important to my enjoyment of a run, and this guy is clearly extremely knowledgeable and used to commentating. He is easy to understand and gives excellent explanations. I also love how locked-in he is to the gameplay, even noticing crazy drops the runner (Angormus) has gotten.

I look forward to the rest of it!

Friend had a get-together for the holiday and about half an hour before i was planning to leave i decided to see if the ol' pig would start. It's been sitting for at least eight or nine months.
Kicked it over a few times and it fired right up so i put air in the tires, got gas, and hopped on the highway.

What a machine.

My friend has like an acre or so of backyard with a creek and a bunch of trees and we have a little track going through it for the little bikes but it's so fun to stuff the big bikes through it, too. lol

Bikes in attendance!
Honda XR650R
KTM 500EXCF
KTM 250XC
Yamaha WR450F
Yamaha TTR110
Yamaha TTR90
Yamaha YZ80 (?)

I need to do more meal-prepping. I've been thinking of burritos or pasta.
There's a delicious (and easy!) veggie pasta salad i did once that's on my list.

What have you been doing lately?
Or just share your favorites!

Edit: Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! So many of these are getting added to my notes!

Looks like the first day is May 17 but there are more on the schedule.

So cool.
