I like that this was published in 2020, before he ran for president and we acknowledged that he's a moderate (read: conservative), rather than pretending he's ultra progressive or some bullshit.
I will personally ban anyone who unironically supports Trump. Supporting hardcore reactionaries is reactionary behavior and not allowed.
But, I think we enjoy, in a sort of dark humor way, the ways that he spotlights the contradictions and flaws in our system. There's also an almost incredulous hilarity to the things he is coincidentally right about sometimes, like making American foreign policy less hawkish.
The bird is the word
post better bait next time. this is way too obvious.

Sure. but that's a lot of dead people to defend the principle of not letting Russia get what they want. We could have said "fine, we won't expand NATO" and either Russia would have backed down or been forced to abandon that "pretense". But we didn't. We got into this dick measuring contest of "Ukraine can join if they want to π€" and provoked a war. Which we wanted, in order to fight Russia without using American troops. But it's completely to the detriment of citizens in both Ukraine and Russia.
c/sino is an appropriate place to discuss China. if you see sinophobic bullshit, report it and we'll make sure it's dealt with. and criticism from the left is fine; it just needs to be sincere/well-intentioned.
also, for general or casual discussions, including China or whatever, c/chat is also fine. again, we run it and we'll make sure it doesn't get out of hand, especially if you can help us out but reporting bad actors.
"And that's all I have to say about that."
We have the best system, folks. Truly the greatest.
My name is Quimby and I'm here to say, commenting with rhymes is the best way.
Critiquing China from the left is ok. And what that looks like is acknowledging that there is racism present in China and there are marginalized groups who aren't being treated fairly. That needs to change, just like it needs to change in nearly every other country in the world. Marginalization of minorities remains a global problem, and China could be doing more.
BUT, there is little credible evidence to suggest that minorities in China are worse off than minorities in the US, or Scandinavia, or Japan, or Isreal, etc etc etc. In some respects, they may even be better off.
So yeah, it would be totally reasonable to take, say, an anarchist perspective, and criticize China as part of a broader concern about power structures. Criticism that paints China as "evil" is not criticism from the left and is, intentionally or otherwise, buying into Western anti-China propaganda.
