In my city, the test goes for 15 seconds while the real thing is like 3 to 5 minutes.

Also, apparently they don't even sound a test siren if there is rain or clouds in the area.

I had a coworker tell me, with a straight face, that corporations are socialist because they're owned by a bunch of people who get a share of the profits.

Pay no attention to those obvious signs that the economy is failing, because the stock market has been recovering these past few days! Even though like a month ago we told you to pay no attention to the stock market because the falling numbers don't mean anything!

hilarious text art about how she chugs wine

"Live, Laugh, Love" art, but for winos. My aunt's kitchen walls are filled with this slop.

Yeah, Vader in the first SW movie was more like hired muscle instead of the Emperor's right hand man. He's subservient to Tarkin and he's openly mocked by Imperial officers throughout the movie. Certainly not someone who's basically second in command of the whole Empire.

I'm sure something in the canon explained its way around this, but it's obvious that George Lucas didn't have the backstories of these characters planned from the beginning like he'd claimed.

I'd be for it if they were the only ones who get affected in a crash. What about innocent people who might get hurt from a 90kg projectile? Or the people who have to mop up the mess?

Listen, if people want to buy and drink plaster cosplaying as milk, it's their God-given right to, and the government shouldn't have a say. Let the invisible hand of the Free Market™ decide whether or not it's a good idea.

A few months ago I thought there was no way he'd be stupid enough to dismantle the institutions that keep the US in power, because monied interests that depend on it would have him deleted, sent to prison for real, or at the very least impached. But holy shit the lack of opposition to his antics, other than some performative fingerwagging from liberals, is amazing.

I don't even know what to believe anymore.

And the few that do won't go very far beyond that and say the problem is "crony capitalism," "not true capitalism" or go straight to JQ-ing.

broad support from people across the political spectrum

Some of my chud relatives were initially in support of it..... for like a day. Then the GOP (and Democrat) establishment came out against it and they all followed suit.

Other dogshit takes I sometimes come across: "they aren't really native anyway because they also came here and stole this land at one point" and "they were killing each other long before we got here so what we did was okay."

You know, because migration and settling that happen on their own, and even inter-tribal warfare, are totally the same as industrialized, state-sanctioned colonization and genocide.

Why is the one in the middle holding a Trump-Vance 24 sign? Someone give them the memo that the election is over.

More often than not, the plots are a variation of "woman in the big city gives up her job, leaves her (admittedly bougie and shitty) boyfriend, and moves back to the small town she grew up in where she hooks up with her old boyfriend who, in spite of his working class salt-of-the-earth appearance, has money."
