Socialism is when... corporations... do... stuff? cat-confused

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago

Socialism is bad

Corporations do bad things I don't like

Corporations are socialist

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

propagandists redefining fascism to be "corporatism" a la Mussolini is still paying off dividends.

socialism-is-when and when corporations do a lot of stuff that's communism

[–] RoabeArt@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I had a coworker tell me, with a straight face, that corporations are socialist because they're owned by a bunch of people who get a share of the profits.

American propaganda was so thorough that there's a uncomfortable amount of people out there that think:

Communism is when certain kinds of things get shared.

And the list of how or what gets shared (and therefore becomes communist) is entirely arbitrary.

The political illiteracy in the west is expansive and profound. All political education these people have ever had is propaganda designed in a lab to made it impossible for people to form coherent political thoughts.

They don't know how anything works. They don't know what words mean. They don't know what socialism is, they just know that it is bad so if a corporation does something bad then that corporation must be socialist.

How do you even talk to these people? How can you have any meaningful communication with someone who is not only uneducated but actively miseducated?

I think we have to start with an education campaign of just basic fucking concepts.

[–] ryepunk@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

Sorry the best we got is paw patrol. Education is now being outsourced to Prager university.

That's the effect of anticommunism and neoliberal hegemony. Everything to the left of free market fundamentalism is considered unthinkable or "immoral"

Copyright was definitely not invented to protect smaller publishers from bigger ones

That's just wrong

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 month ago

modern copyright is just Disney protecting their monopoly over Mickey Mouse lmao these chuds cannot be fr

The first IP law was created by Elizabeth I so that her favourite boytoy could have a monopoly over selling playing cards

Ok guys i have a plan! We take the collective works of Lenin. Turn them first into an audio book, cuz these people dont read, then we switch it so everytime he says socialism he says capitalism and vice versa. Then we blast clips of it everywhere. America will be full of confused Leninists by monday.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

Making into an audiobook would be a good idea.

The Government And Rebellion by Joe Rivers.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

If chuds keep calling us the real fascists, then logically, are they the real communists?

Well this proud supercapitalist^TM^ will no longer stand for those commieservatives any further!

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

“Hey! Two wrongs don’t make a right, that’s why we hate socialists! They fail to realize that by hurting nazis, they become nazis! So obviously, if you steal from socialists…you BECOME the real socialist!”

That’s how it works, right? Or is forgiveness something only minorities are expected to do?

[–] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

socialism is whatever my tv says is bad. now that we have established clear definitions let me give you my opinion.

[–] 51dz31@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

It's CORPORATISM, not CAPITALISM
