No repost bots, karma farming, or idiots (mostly). The learning curve to joining the fediverse filters out your average facebook/twitter type that Reddit is filled with today. Lemmy right now is how Reddit was a decade ago
Obvious satire, and pretty funny as well
Well, everything else I said stands. You're on Beehaw, so none of that affects you. I could migrate my account there if it became an issue. Lemmy as an overall platform should still be recommended imo, because there are so many instances to join instead.
This is making our switch to Lemmy feel quite justified, isn't it? Although even if Reddit was still in good shape I think the potential of a decentralized platform is much better. I probably would have migrated here whether this shitstorm happened or not.
He's just going to edit the downvoted count
I found that discord is mostly filled with immature teenagers. It's tough to have a mature discussion there
I think the end goal would be AR/VR built into your glasses that are as light as current day glasses. We are probably a long time away from that, but I feel like most VR headsets right now are beta versions of this end goal.
Smart TVs are stupid and only exist to make ad revenue and sell user data. I'd pay extra for a TV like an LG C2 OLED but with no OS. Just a monitor that displays sources plugged in.
Sports video games peaked in the mid 2000s and are all garbage cash grabs now. They only make money because they have no competition (Madden is the only NFL game, 2K is the only NBA game, The Show is the only MLB game, etc).
I've never met someone who prefers touchscreen climate controls in a car tbh. Everyone I know agrees that it's stupid and unsafe
It's nice to have a place where I can ask genuine questions without being called a complete idiot just for asking.
Signal is my go to. Some of my friends refuse to download it, so I just text them. I'll use iMessage on iOS and Google Messages on Android. But if I can use Signal, I will
