Yeah sure there are some, but most poor people will not profit.

[-] thisfro@slrpnk.net 3 points 4 days ago

The outdated fixed-fare system is stopping it from happening.

Not sure if that helps poor people. I make a solid amount of money and am very flexible, as I can work just as well in the train as I could in the office. An assambly line worker surely cannot do that and likely has to travel on weekends when the prices are high (potentially higher than before).

Yep, 150km/h on average is not that great. Especially considering the average in the part of the route in France (tbf, without a stop) is around 280km/h. Leaving an average of 130km/h through Germany.

But still nice that there are long-distance direct connections, as changing can be a major pain, especially with DB...

Of course it's a mistake, but what difference does it make?

To cast them, it uses libvegs however. It is not available in any standard package libraries, so just quickly build it from source

Welcome to the world of data colonialism, where the continuous extraction of data from our lives generates massive wealth for the few and suffering for the many on a global scale.

It looks very weird, but if you put it like abab vs abba, it makes more sense

Citypop oder City Pop (japanisch: シティ・ポップ, shiti poppu) ist eine lose definierte Form der japanischen Popmusik, die in den späten 1970er Jahren entstand und in den 1980er Jahren ihren Höhepunkt erreichte.

While watching the video I couldn't stop thinking about the fediverse. It's basically self-organized social-media. While it is far from perfect it is so much better than the corporate alternative in terms of relevant content. I'm just sad that basically nobody I know personally actually uses the fediverse...

Our world is built up of roads and cars to get us to our destination! But what about cycling and even walking? Have we been brainwashed to think that the car is always king?
Si goes on a deep dive into just how we are convinced to think that modern car culture is acceptable in our lives!

I think this is why I like solarpunk. It enables us to imagine a better world, focused on us instead of the economy or whatever society thinks the most important construct is.

Note: I might just be uneducated on the subject.

When I read about web3 with blockchains, smart contracts and dapps, all sounds very promising. But once you look for any real world applications it is just some obscure things that kind of only exist to support the decentralized system. I guess that makes sense, but are there any actual real world uses for that? Like day-to-day things that make a persons life easier, not harder?

Teaching children what consent is sounds pretty important to me. They won't magically learn it at 17.

I love the new community!

I created a website to swap plants, however it currently only works in Switzerland really (due to zipcode locaiton lookup). But I would like to extend it to more countries, at least in Europe. Feel free to have a look at https://pflaenz.li and test/use it for yourself!

It is open source and you can contribute and look at the code on https://git.thisfro.ch/pflaenz.li/pflaenz.li

Also any feedback is very welcome! <3

They probably did, just not explicitly:

You could write (6*1/100)*50 = 6*(50*1/100)

It only uses the commutative property of multiplication and the fact that % is another way of writing 1/100.

Maybe also worth remembering that "x% of y" is just x/100*y

Maybe it is literally the point of getting a dog and thus be forced to walk more, good for them, good for the dog

TBH, I'm not surprised. Linus stance on unions is really weird... My interest in LTTs videos has anyway declined in the last time, maybe I'll take a break and hope they really change some things.

Props to Madison for speaking out about this!
