The last installment of this series was already four months ago, but inspiration struck last night and I managed to jot this down fairly quickly. I can't guarantee I haven't made any mistakes in this translation, but it's my own conlang so I don't think anybody's going to check.

The rules are, as usual, that I can only reveal one word at a time, unless revealing a word would give away the meaning of a whole line — in other words, if I tell you what "yoezjevyefe" means, I can't tell you what "psett" means later, and vice versa. At the bottom of this post you'll find the words sorted by length and frequency to help you choose which words to ask me to reveal: longer words appearing once will tend to be more specific, shorter words appearing many times will tend to be grammatical particles which can help you figure out the sentence structure.

You will also find some basic information about the song at the bottom of the post, which could very well be all you need to guess the song correctly. Just remember that when you do guess the song, that you should spoiler your answer. The first person to guess the song correctly will get replied to with :congratulations: and will be asked how they managed to figure out the song.

Main. I think the rule is this post needs to say main? Or be accompanied by a materialist analysis of yesterday’s events? I usually stick to badposting so idk. Has anyone read the book “Pathogenesis: A History of the World in Eight Plagues”? It seems a bit lib in parts, but is an interesting lens to look at history through. Essentially, that Earths development (historic and prehistoric) is largely driven by microcosms rather than people.

I’m in the chapter right now talking about the Roman empires rapid transition from Paganism to Christianity after a plague which their gods “failed to protect them from”. At which point they disposed of their gods, metaphorically and physically (temples, statues, etc). This seems similar to a potential trajectory for a certain country/world once enough people decide that the gods (billionaires, ceos, etc) of the religion (capitalism) will not save them from the blights to come (literal blights, climate change and its effects, etc. ), and decide to abandon them metaphorically and physically (pew pew), and move on to the next god (not sure on this- perhaps an exceedingly charismatic council of furries?).

Anyway I feel like there’s a strange current with the attempted trump assassinations, pelosi hammering, yesterdays whoopsy daisy where a legally concealed firearm accidentally discharged at which point the projectiles reportedly entered a ceo who didn’t have supplemental projectile coverage (his fault really) and then he rode off on a bike (carbon neutral, and partly subsidized by Citibank (accomplice much?)).

Idk I just overheard two strangers (to each other and me) talking about absurd healthcare costs for family members and their insurances failure to cover them.

WE'RE SO BACK

The last time I would ever see you, a number of years ago, the topic of that language, and how your parents when you were within earshot only ever used it as a secret code language, came up... Now maybe I was just seeing things, but it seemed like there was some regret in your eyes and in your voice, like you wished your parents had taught you their own language. In other words, it seemed like you were "jealous" of me, for lack of a better word, for being raised with that language by your daughter who learned it in adulthood when she emigrated.

Given this apparent regret over being denied that language, I reckon you might've enjoyed the sight of two of your grandkids — myself who was raised with that language as said, and my cousin who chose to learn it in adulthood — speaking it to each other while watching dubbed Peanuts specials on Thanksgiving. Indeed, each generation of the family after you, has in greater numbers been able to claw back that which you were yourself denied.

I would say from experience, then, that US nativism will not only inevitably collapse, but has in fact already failed.

In the old days, you know, the nativists banned "everything but English" from schools and churches, they repressed newspapers like Gaa Paa, they tarred and feathered people, they convinced immigrants that bilingualism was harmful and shameful, thereby sending non-English publications into an economic death spiral — but what did all of that violence amount to in the end? What did parents refusing to translate for their children, what did the enforcement of property rights, what did the outright physical assault, all carried out in the service of false consciousness, actually manage to achieve when all is said and done?

It all amounted to two young adults riffing on a cartoon in the selfsame language that the US nativists tried to suppress — all that the nativists' efforts achieved was that these two young'uns now speak with marked accents.

Do you think they'd call that a victory?
