Finished my first run of Star Fox, thanks to the motivation from last week's thread. I don't think I'll be able to get all the medals, but I do plan to complete all the routes / levels. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Started, and finsihed, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars. I have been itching for a proper JRPG, and while Monster Hunter Stories is good, it wasn't exactly scratching that itch. So, after looking around saw that Voice of Cards trilogy is on sale, so got that. I generally don't get much time to play during the week, but after starting it on Tuesday, played it daily until I finished it.

Voice of Cards has a table top game with cards aesthetics. Everything is a card, the map, the characters, the text, the equipment and so on. The story is interesting and it's all narrated. The OST are also pretty good, specially loved the music during the menu / new chapter.

Couple of issues I had with the game, since everything is a card, you move step by step on the main map, so it can take a while to explore everything. It also has random battles, and the animation to switch to combat area and start battling takes some time. It's not much, but it eventually adds up. Fortunately there's an option to speed it up in the game, only found it half way through the game. The map can also look a bit similar, all grass cards are the same, all mountains cards are the same etc. It wasn't much of a deal for me, but some people might not enjoy that.

It took me about 11 hours to finish the game, and while I while I tried to explore everything and talked to everyone, I did miss some side quests, so it can take you anywhere from 9-15 hours for a single run. And I think that's a perfect length for the game of this style. It wasn't too short but also not long enough to overstay it's welcome.

If you plan to play the game, I'll highly recommend trying the demo first. The save does not carry over, but the actual game starts where the demo ends, so you can think of demo as a small perquel. I'll recommend it to JRPG fans, but the game isn't for everyone, personally I would love more game in the series.

Finished It Takes Two. I am not sure if I mentioned this here or not, but I started this with my older one last year. Didn't play it for some months, but finally went back and finished the game.

We mainly got it for the co-op, and it was pretty fun. It was about a couple getting divorce, which didn't interest my kid at all, but he enjoyed the gameplay, and is looking forward to playing more such games. So we may get Split Faction and / or Orbitals. There are a few other co-op games like that too. I remember there was one where both protagonists were a car.

Spent most of last weekend playing Red Dead Redemption 2. I am just going from quest to quest, the narrative is good and while I do like the world in general too, I don't care about just exploring or hunting or living in the world as most people seem to enjoy in RDR2.

Maybe this is why I have so little money in the game, one of the mission had me ending up with huge bounty, $300, and I don't have enough to pay it and clear my name, so just waiting to see if it will go away eventually. The only next mission is in same area, so will have to go there, maybe doing that mission will reset it. Othewise I may have to start earning some money. I did have around $200 though, but I didn't had a need to buy anything by then, so I spent it all on clothing. I probably shouldn't have do that. :grinning:

Will probably focus on it this weekend too.

While most of the time last weekend was spent on RDR2, remaining time was spent on Earth Defense Force 5. I have reached around mission # 75, while total are usually somewhere around 100, give or take 5-10. This is my turn the brain off and kill the enemy game. When you don't want to think about story, or quests, and just want play something to relax.

With Splatoon Raiders releasing later this month, it might fill the same niche, so planning to finish this before that.

Didn't play much Monster Hunter Stories, but will probably get back to it during the week.

Reached the final level of Star Fox, but got stuck at a fight with Star Wolf. Dunno how many times I have tried, just can't kill them all, before all my companions are gone, and my ship explodes. May abandon the campaign and "git gud" by playing from start.

Finally reached a big town in Monster Hunter Stories. Not sure if it's the first such city or the only such city though. I like the feeling of when your characters enter the first big town after leaving their village in JRPGs.

I have also unlocked "Channeling", it allows you to let a monstie "inhert" trait or moves of another monstie. The monstie you inherit from is gone forever though. I haven't experimented much with it, but it can allow you to power up your monsties. No proper fusing unlocked yet.

Also faced some boss monsters, who don't follow the usual of two attacks of one type and then switching to another. Their pattern is also repeatable, but it also means you have to guess it the first few attacks, which means it ends up all being luck. Not a fan of this. Though the combat isn't much difficult so haven't had too much of a problem because of it.

It is making me want to play proper Monster Hunter though. I may end up starting MH: Rise or MH: Wilds after finishing this.

On PS side, spent most of my time playing Earth Defense Force 5. Just got the "5% main campaign done" trophy, when I am about halfway through the game. The way game counts missions is that each mission has 20 "check boxes" for 5 difficulty levels with 4 different classes. Since I am playing on normal (2nd difficulty, 3 are unlocked from start, and I guess you unlock last 2 after finishing the game) with just one class, I only get 2 check marks out of 20. So, only after crossing mission 50 or so did I get that trophy. I don't really care about trophies, but it's kinda annoying when you finish the game only have a 5% completion trophy, better to get no trophy in that case :grinning:

Going to pause Fallout 4 for a while, started Red Dead Redemption 2 instead. The start of the game, specially the first chapter, is really slow. With the way the game is hyped I was kinda disappointed.

My main issue is with "realism" in the game. All actions have long animations, even looting requires so much time, the character will bend down and check the downed enemy and then stand back up. Or when looting a room, you will have to press the button to open cabinet, which your character will do, then press another button to "Take" and most of the time your character is covering the view so you don't even know what you are taking, and when you get "you already have maximum amount of this item", you have no idea what item it is talking about.

The first chapter is more of a tutorial, so hopefully things will speed up after that, but feels a bit annoying right now.

Finished Owlboy.

It was a fun game, but there were some parts I didn't like much. There are some sections where you have to navigate through darkness, and there are spikes on the walls, didn't like that. There were also some areas which were time based, don't like those either. Doesn't make it a bad game though, there are many good parts, but it's not perfect. Personally, I will rate it as a good but not a great game. If you like 2D platformers, it's worth a try.

Started Star Fox. I have only played the tutorial though, haven't even started the campaign, but that is going to be the primary game for the weekend.

This is also the first time I properly tried the mouse mode of Switch 2, and I am really impressed. It works really well, had to spend some time thinking if I should play the game in mouse mode or normal control. You can change the controls on runtime though, so it's not a big decision.

Reached the second area Monster Hunter Stories. The game seems to be opening up, fast travel is also unlocked, and I have finally more than 5 monsties. 5 is the limit of what we can have active party at a time. Going to put it on a back burner for a bit and focus on Star Fox.

Played Fallout 4, completed some quest lines, and took care of some bigger quests. Also played some Earth Defense Force 5. Nothing worth mentioning there though.

What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?
