Damn I hate it that the intactivism (anti circumcision) movement has been taken over by the biggest chuds.

This one has at least limited itself to the North American continent as far as I can tell. Unless there has been some cultural exportation of this shit that I don't wanna know.

in europe it can get very islamophobic. but it's europe, so everything has a tendency towards islamophobia (and/or antiromaniism)

[–] Leon_Grotsky@hexbear.net 12 points 8 months ago (1 children)

antiromaniism

I think generally the preferred term is Antiziganism

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 2 points 8 months ago

ah right, to me that world looks like it has a slur in the middle of it but i do see it more often

Oh? Circumcision is associated with Muslims in Europe? I haven't experienced that, but I also didn't grow up there nor had a child there..

[–] Hexamerous@hexbear.net 15 points 8 months ago

Well, yeah. Here it's only done for religious or medical reasons. As I understand it, Americans do it because some guy selling breakfast cereal told them to.

[–] Tenkard@lemmy.ml 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Never heard of it associated with anyone but the Jewish people, not sure if it's different in other European countries. Also it's not liked/disliked, for most it's a neutral medical procedure, never heard any rant about circumcision from any party on the right.

you gotta go learn about the Kellogg cereal guy

[–] Des@hexbear.net 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

is that guy why my catholic parents were convinced to do it to me fresh out of the womb??

i always wondered wtf. thought it was a late 80s to 90s trend. was truly robbed of a good girldick and a mesh of tactile nerves i shall never know

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 3 points 8 months ago

i think most circumcisions in europe are either for religious reasons (and so mostly in muslim families) or for emergency medical reasons

[–] abc@hexbear.net 4 points 8 months ago (2 children)

implying it wasn't always a chud movement (i say this as an uncircumcised man who wouldn't circumcise his children)

[–] ButtBidet@hexbear.net 6 points 8 months ago

This is just profoundly hurtful to me. I say this as someone who was cut as an infant. There are plenty of liberals in the movement, the chuds are just the loudest voices, and often push out others either through disgust or a coup.

[–] lilypad@hexbear.net 3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

as an unaffected person who wouldnt affect his children i think the movement to stop this has always been full of chuds despite the reality of there being liberals and others in it, and the group known for being overly vocal being super vocal.

Like buttbidet said, this is a hurtful thing to say. I say this as someone who avoided being cut because my mother was an anticircumcision liberal
