Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Out of the top 10 busiest airports 6 are in democratic states and/or cities. Out of the top 5 international airports 3 of them are in democratic states and/or cities. If he did this it would literally grind our entire country to a halt.

>would grind our country to a halt

I am getting the distinct feeling that this is by design and is the actual goal. Because it kind of is. It would explain the absolutely carefree demeanor of Trump- his dementia aside, because it seems like what they're doing is quite literally dismantling society so that they can seize complete power and control the land and make their own, "new and improved" one where they are in charge, own everything, and dynastic rule is reinstated.

Yes that sounds like a conspiracy theory, sure, because it is. The thing with conspiracy theories are most often the complete lack of evidence to support them, but in this case, you know, there is so much and it's so blatant that I feel it's kind of warranted to make an educated guess about the fairly obvious conclusion.

Destroying and replacing the US will not affect their bottom line in any other way than positive, either, because remember, they can all rob the planet blind through the markets on insider information because their guy in the White House will tell, or sell, them information about the next thing he's gonna destroy.

One's chaos is an opportunity for another.

Just wait until you realize what the point of a border wall actually is.

He literally started a war over nothing. At best it was to distract us from the fact he's a pedophile rapist. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think he really cares about our country.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 38 points 23 hours ago (6 children)

I'm aware. I'm just saying that it'd be catastrophic for all of us.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 45 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Never stopped him before. A million of us died during Covid because he absolutely does not give a single shit about anybody else.

[–] mracton@piefed.social 25 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

And nearly a million have died from the gutting of USAID and additional domestically after cuts to food and medical assistance…and the stupidity at HHS.

[–] Jiggle_Physics@quokk.au 14 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

The cuts to medicaid/medicare and the slashing of general policy around a lot of medicines, and treatments not within those policies alone, will result in 10-12 million excess deaths in the net 10 years.

I heard Ebola is making a comeback!

Guess we can eat raccoon penis as a precautionary measure. It's cheaper than actual treatment, therefore superior.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 2 points 16 hours ago

Because he knows the world fucking hates his guts.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 3 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

He does care about rich and powerful people. Instrumentally only, but still. The truly powerful he glorifies and pretends to adore to hide the fact that they're stronger than he is and that he can't bully them, so he hides his resentment by pretending he is on their side.

It's so fucking pathetic.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 17 points 23 hours ago

That's kinda on-brand for him, now that you mention it. It's like he's a bitter old pedo who wants the world to burn on his way out.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 3 points 16 hours ago

This is all catastrophic for us.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

So maybe it is finally the time to organize a general strike? close accounts in all big tech companies, refuse to buy anything in any corporate outlet, etc? maybe?

[–] searabbit@piefed.social 11 points 21 hours ago

We are already being shut out of the economy, and the few people who actually have a middle class job and lifestyle are in complete denial about what is going on in this country. The most we can do right now is support the growing calls for unions as a prerequisite for union leaders to organize a real general strike. Individuals are not just going to wake up one day and sacrifice their current comfort for our collective future.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Another government shutdown, here we come!

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 5 points 19 hours ago

Catastrophe already actively in progress. Countermeasures also need to be actively in progress. Find a resistance group to join. There are lots of options.

[–] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 2 points 19 hours ago

Fair enough. I took it to mean more "he wouldn't do it because it would be catastrophic". I see now it was meant more to draw attention to the issues it would cause.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I don't think It's about the files. I don't think they care, like really do not give a shit about the files. Sure It's annoying and a thorn in their side but really, they know we are powerless to stop them, that it's all just about perception and public opinion. They know they will never see any consequences.

This war is about money, explicitly. Alwayshasbeen.jpg

For the same people and networks that are in the files no less.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

States, sure, but which city is busy enough to have a top-10 or top-5 airport but isn't run by Democrats?

[–] JordanZ@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

I was curious as well…

My quick searching revealed that DFW(Dallas/Fort Worth) is a split and MIA(Miami) flipped from blue to red somewhat recently. The rest are either blue city/states or red states with blue cities. Just kind of glanced at the top few results for ‘ political leaning’ so take that as you will.

That's what he wants
