The greatest contradiction in the world today, is imperialism / the low-wage trap / inequality between rich and poor countries. How to defeat it is the most important question of our times, and the PRC found the solution, put it in place, and are now seeing its fruits.

"The bargain" as its called (accepting limited forms of low wage labour / exploitation and foreign owned development in exchange for access to technology and expertise) is really a brilliant strategy. In a sense its exploiting the west's greed, and what it always had done: exploit cheap labour, and willingness to export production for a quick buck, to their own downfall.

That strategy is even still working for the global north everywhere but the PRC and Vietnam. But when its done to a country with a planned economy, which can do long-term plans using this imported tech, it can effectively out-organize private capitalist production. Its fatal for capitalism in the long term. Deng's quote is on point here:

Our first conclusion was that we had to uphold socialism and that to do that we had, above all, to eliminate poverty and backwardness, greatly expand the productive forces and demonstrate the superiority of socialism over capitalism. To this end, we had to shift the focus of our work to the drive for modernization and make that our goal for the next few decades. At the same time, experience has taught us that we must no longer keep the country closed to the outside world and that we must bring the initiative of our people into full play. Hence our policies of opening up and reform. Our open policy has two aspects: domestic and international. We began with the countryside, applying the open policy there, and we achieved results very quickly. In some places it took only one or two years to get rid of poverty. After accumulating the necessary experience in the countryside, we shifted the focus of reform to the cities. The urban reform has been under way for nearly three years, but much remains to be done. We also obtained quick results from the open policy internationally.

We really should consider Deng the 5th head of Marxism for employing this gambit and saving the world from US domination.

100% agree. I think Deng will go down as one of if not the best statesman in history. He was the one who first employed the strategies of Sun Tzu to the battle between capital forces and socialism. To appear weak when you are strong. To defeat your enemy without battle. He is one of the greats for sure. And Xi is a great successor to him. He is ensuring the plan that Deng could not live to see completed is followed through to the end.
