I'm pretty sure that's not a direct defense of Platner but the poster borrowing the Mamdani quote to justify their continued support. I may be wrong but that's how I read it.

Edit 2: say what you will about Mamdani and AOCIA, neither one was taken in by this merc, so while we should still critique them, I think maybe a bit of respect for the game if nothing else. Keeping your powder dry is a virtue. If you have receipts either endorsed I'm all ears

And also apon re-reading the tweet, I mistook the third paragraph (The dems would rather...) as also being part of the quote, I was confused by that but seeing it's just the second does make it more clear that it's an out of context quote.
No sweat, the poster in the screenshot clearly wants readers to think just that, that zohran and Platner are the same.
