"I want to wipe out MAGA, which I think we can only accomplish by erasing any remaining practical difference between our approach and MAGA's."

Of course, they had already basically decided this with dismissing Tara Reade, but still.

SA is doing well with focus groups

Remember when Trump being a r*pist was one of the main things liberals would bring up about him?

Now Platner is facing the same accusations and they don’t give a shit 👏

Stay performative, liberals.

I wonder what it's like to never have to worry about being thrown under the bus if it serves the empire

(They are disposable too but by the time they understand that it will be their "find out" era)

Liberals and conservatives are both capable of learning. 2016 taught liberals thatremoved isn't disqualifying for a candidate the same way 1998 taught conservatives extramarital affairs aren't disqualifying for a president

Liberal reading about WW2: We need a liberal Hitler

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 days ago

If only Hitler had acted through the proper channels smh

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

Quoting Mamdani like he's chairman mao, yeah

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 22 points 2 days ago

I was expecting the classic: I can excuse killing brown people but I draw a line in SA.

But no we've hit a new low. This person is one economic crisis away from doing the Sieg Heil in the streets.

Call me (very) old-fashioned but I don't think Nazi r*pists should even be near political power never mind welding it. In fact I think [redacted]

I think Platner is the first politician since Trump where the meme "Ah, well, nevertheless" can be applied to its fullest

The chaos gods of America have forsaken Trump and found their new host; slicker, woker, GenZer, somehow even more cracker, I look forward to the Platner Heresy-era of American history

I'll admit I'm kinda shocked how well this comment aged, he really is a new Trump

I'm done caring about sexual assaultists

what-the-hell

Also Mamdani L defending Platner

[–] ChestRockwell@hexbear.net 55 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I'm pretty sure that's not a direct defense of Platner but the poster borrowing the Mamdani quote to justify their continued support. I may be wrong but that's how I read it.

Edit source : https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/18/politics/mamdani-sanders-democrats-rally

It was spoken at a DSA slate rally. Know who's not DSA? Platner.

Edit 2: say what you will about Mamdani and AOCIA, neither one was taken in by this merc, so while we should still critique them, I think maybe a bit of respect for the game if nothing else. Keeping your powder dry is a virtue. If you have receipts either endorsed I'm all ears

[–] agentant@hexbear.net 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I recant my Mamdani L for this one. Thanks for the source doggirl-happy

And also apon re-reading the tweet, I mistook the third paragraph (The dems would rather...) as also being part of the quote, I was confused by that but seeing it's just the second does make it more clear that it's an out of context quote.

[–] ChestRockwell@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

No sweat, the poster in the screenshot clearly wants readers to think just that, that zohran and Platner are the same.

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

The Good Place Meme: Even AOC figured it out? This is a new low

[–] Arcanepotato@crazypeople.online 15 points 2 days ago

There is literally no hope for class consciousness if it is considered so important that a specific individual be chosen as a representative.

I was going to add "such that they are viewed as beyond all possible reproach" but honestly the first bit is more than enough.

Liberal Pragmatism strikes again

[–] BilduEnjoyer@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

Yeah let's elect creep and give him more power and access to fresh victims! (Ugh)
