Why would that be remotely bad for the shot!?!

color baaaaad

grey desaturated slurry gooood, it's "realistic" (pls don't ever look outside, believe me, the real world has no such thing as "colors") and "serious" and "gritty" (which is a good thing, because as we all know art that is not gritty and serious is inherently lesser)

The cracker's yearn for the moors of England

I feel like there’s got to be some connection between this cinematography style and the “sad beige” interior design aesthetic.

It's 2006-2015 era gritty videogame graphics all over again. That shit suuuuuuuucks.

Because they want to be gritty and self-serious, so something beautiful and whimsical and (as the post highlights), worst of all, colorful is anathema to what they are going for.

It's especially ridiculous because that's like the best place to put a rainbow, his palace in Ithaca as he makes his return, though it would fit a few of the other islands too.

That might not be the scene they were shooting at the time. Tom Holland isnt playing Odysseus. He's playing Telemachus. Most of if not all of his scenes are gonna be around the castle in Ithaca

The public would crash tf out at a rainbow for its lgbt themes. Good way to have the movie flop.

Dam I think you actually stumbled upon the real reason, has "my little pony" become a new dogwhistle among these people?

Depends om the mood the shot is trying to convey. Just cause it would look pretty doesnt mean it's right for the scene. Also rainbows tend to go away and you dont want a rainbow in some shots and not in others. It's a shot for a movie and rainbows are distracting and tend to be associated with light heartedness and or hope. If you dont want your scene to convey that, its generally good to not have a visual reflection of it
