This doesn't make sense. He can't vote by proxy, so there's no point in delaying. If anything, Republicans should want to hold the special as soon as possible, because the Kentucky governor gets to appoint a temporary replacement, and he's a Democrat.
(I know this is just a meme, but I just don't like poorly supported conspiracy theories.)

First of all, isn't Massie a republican? (Though redeemingly anti-trump)
Second, doesn't this just push the election back a couple months? Are they just trying to delay the inevitable?
Massie is the other KY senator, not the governor. Andy Beshear is the governor, and he's a Democrat.
A few months gives them time to purity test a few viable candidates and astroturf them to the voters.

That's unnecessarily hostile seeing as you didn't even answer my question. You're not talking to a wall, you're talking around me.
Are you saying republicans are concerned that Massie might take McConnells spot, and that's why they're avoiding the special election? If so, valid, that could have been your initial response instead of simply repeating something I had already said.
Even so, how is that any different than if they just wait and have a normal election in November? Just gives them more time to pass anti-voter legislation before November, I guess?
