“In Kentucky, a special election to replace a Senator will NOT be called if it’s closer than 3 months till the next election,” Cochran wrote Saturday in a social media post on X. “If McConnell’s condition is clearly unfit for office, they’d hide that to avoid being forced to submit a resignation letter until after that date.”

“So all they have to do is drag their feet until [the second Tuesday in August], then tell you that he didn’t make it,” Cochran continued. “And in turn block Massie from disrupting an otherwise safe Republican seat.”

The criminal pedophile & corpse party rides again. If this were a Democrat the Republican's would bus millions into DC again and stage ANOTHER violent march.

He's gonna be green and bloated like a puffer fish when they roll him out of that facility.

hes been a lich for 1000years, doubt he will decay in a normal way

Can someone explain how this blocks Massie from disrupting a seat?

First of all, isn't Massie a republican? (Though redeemingly anti-trump)

Second, doesn't this just push the election back a couple months? Are they just trying to delay the inevitable?

Massie is the other KY senator, not the governor. Andy Beshear is the governor, and he's a Democrat.

A few months gives them time to purity test a few viable candidates and astroturf them to the voters.

@Mirshe@lemmy.world @wonderingwanderer massie is a rep for 4th district, not senator

rand paul is the other senator

fuckin no post troll.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 days ago

The Governor doesn't have anything to do with it.

Purity tests an astroturfing sounds accurate though

@wonderingwanderer Massie is part of an internal GOP faction opposing MAGA.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's good and all, but what does that have to do with a special election to replace McConnell? That's what I don't get

@wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz massie being a KY senator instead of rep.

im starting to feel like im talking to a wall, willful playing the fool, or you're just so far out of your depth you should go away

oh. i just looked at your profile

my mistake for engaging with the troll, folks.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

That's unnecessarily hostile seeing as you didn't even answer my question. You're not talking to a wall, you're talking around me.

Are you saying republicans are concerned that Massie might take McConnells spot, and that's why they're avoiding the special election? If so, valid, that could have been your initial response instead of simply repeating something I had already said.

Even so, how is that any different than if they just wait and have a normal election in November? Just gives them more time to pass anti-voter legislation before November, I guess?

Also:

so far out of your depth you should go away

That's fucking hilarious coming from a mastodon account who can't say more than a couple sentences. You go away, troll. Enjoy your microblog all you want, but this is the threadiverse
