Dry humour at its best. Delivery is king in comedy.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world -1 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Right, I get all that, but I don't think he was joking about this. I don't think he or his fellow countrymen are joking about these things. I wouldn't anyway.

πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ What do I know though.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 12 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Nah he would definitely joke about it, as would many of his countrymen, although obviously not all.

Gallows humour is a coping mechanism for difficult situations for a lot of people, while others of course can't stand it at all.

Personally, if I happened to be in the actual gallows, I'd be making stupid ass jokes that make everyone else wish they'd die sooner

So he's joking and not joking?

[–] kurwa@lemmy.world 10 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

If everything he said was true, and it was funny, does that contradict each other?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 0 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I guess everyone is misunderstanding me.

I'm not saying he was joking as in saying something that wasn't true. I'm just saying he wasn't trying to be funny.

It's not a joking matter.

[–] Randomocity@sh.itjust.works 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

He was joking because if he actually wanted to go to Moscow he could tell his troops to not attack him while he is there. So there being a lot of drones there is irrelevant.

[–] kurwa@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Well thats obvious but it's not like he said that just to make a joke, I think while being funny there was still intent with him saying that.

[–] Randomocity@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 hours ago

Yes, like a lot of jokes there is humor in the truth of it

Yes. Sometimes the truth is funny. And sometimes humor is dark.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world -2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Yet another comment like this: I'm not saying he wasn't telling the truth. I just don't think he was trying to be funny.

Agree to disagree.

Humor is a pretty common trauma response.

[–] Sas@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I guess that's possible by telling a truth in a joking manner

[–] victorz@lemmy.world -1 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

I think you've misunderstood. I'm not saying joking needs to be saying something false.

I'm saying he wasn't trying to be funny.
