There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

These hearings baffle me. You go and loudly voice NO you don't want these fucking data centers, then you get arrested for clapping. Is this some sort of honeypot?
Yeah the whole thing is a farce in so many municipalities. There is zero recourse in dealing with bullshit council like this, and they always have the cops at their disposal. They can tell you go leave for any reason and the cops will just boot your ass out. It doesn't matter if you have a "right to speak" because your rights only matter retroactively never proactively. It doesn't matter if everyone employed by the municipality hates the council, if the people hate them, they typically can not be recalled until the next election. But that's elections in the US broadly. The difference is these people live in your town. Do with that information what you will.
The level of fuckery you could get up to just by running for local town council is very high potentially. Even down to just fucking up a party's vote by splitting it.
We have a couple socialists on our town council because it's surprisingly easy to beat "Karen from the HoA who has run unopposed for 20 years" when you have like 6 friends and know some people in town.
Yeah we need to get on that shit in my town. Do they run as explicit socialist or are they more crypto socialist in presentation? Im good friends with a fellow traveler in town, and we've talked about it before.
They have lefty podcasts (focused on local issues) and don't hide their socialism lol.
One of them had a whole debacle with her co-host because she was a lib and thought that using the podcast money for mutual aid was "enabling" people.
There's still plenty of HOA Karens around, but the council is only like 5 people and if you're actually driven you can get things done. Like we now have a huge bike initiative and more funding for DSS and pedestrian infrastructure because of her.
This is also in a small Southern town and most people know her name better than the mayor lmao.

It does feel more like the king's court where you get punished if you don't show proper respect than like democratic institution.
If the point of this no-clapping rule is to avoid disruptions, well... They caused a bigger disruption booting the guy than he did with his clapping.
It genuinely seems like the point is to undermine their sense of solidarity or to make it not as apparent in a short clip how much the community hates this bullshit ("waving distracts the council"). I agree that they probably failed at these as well.
