Guys what do i do if i love the flags, love woke games but also love gooner slop?
idk support the gooner material that actually aligns with your views or is made by people who are out there trying to make the world a better place, if you must.
But tbh Plenty of Marxists also like to consume Call of Duty/Battlefield slop which isn't really much better than playing some shitty gacha game. Morally speaking they're no different really, besides violence being a lot more permissible in our societies, so consuming war propaganda is a-ok in most circles.
I like war games where I can play as the Soviets. Or anything where I get to kill Nazis. Aside from that, I don't really enjoy that junk.
(Sure, Great Patriotic War shooters can be fun. But I also like HOI4 because of the sheer scale on which you can kill fascists. What can I say, dead Nazis is good clean wholesome fun!)
I have a lot of hours in Company of Heroes 2 and I play OKW only because I like their gameplay style.
That's alright I didn't mean to tell everyone to stop living in society. It was meant more as an encouragement to support fellow comrades when they can when we do the consuming. That way the money hopefully gets put towards something good.
But I ain't gonna judge people for their personal choices much. I think I need to work on the way I phrase myself because I truly don't mean to say others are lesser than me just for playing a game.
I didn't take it that way at all. Your comment got my noggin joggin on how often I consume media that's diametrically opposed to my worldview. Stuff like Company of Heroes or Warhammer 40K.
I think asking yourself why do you indulge in media that portrays an opposing worldview is a much more interesting question, than asking what media one should consume.
Does it mean we should all become free speech absolutists and allow Austrian painters book to be places in our bookshelves?
No, but I would argue something is deeply wrong with our society, if reading that book converts someone to a nazi. Same as that there is something deeply wrong with out society if playing 40k does that to someone. If banning this media means we can eventually create a society where this doesn't happen then sure I'm not opposed to it, by itself it doesn't seem to work if I take a look at what's happening in Europe right now.
Like take for instance why I found the 40k setting peculiar myself. It's a world filled with perpetual misery, caused by all the worst human qualities. Arrogance, greed, ignorance, haltered, zealotry and you can go on. Something about it tickles my funny bone, why would that make me wanna subscribe to a losers ideology? My own world is filled with perpetual misery, caused by it's own god emperors and people worshipping them. That's where I find it relatable.
yeah materially support the gooner creators that aligns with your views if you can, but in this day and age, you're bound to play a few slop (gooner, especially) games loved by many so my only advice besides that is to keep yourself in check and chat with like-minded people who also like that gooner slop (e.g, I play gacha games like HSR or PGR but I stay far away from the part of the community that isn't lesbian yuriposting lol)
