It isn't an argument: the answer is Mint.

[–] Ftumch@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Linux Mint is what you recommend to noobs and normies. All the cool kids are using NixOS now.

Ha get with the times old man it's cachyos now. Even that's getting old though I assume some new shit will come into the spotlight soon

The real cool kids use the new gen of image based distros like Bluefin now 😎

[–] Ftumch@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's just a less powerful version of NixOS' atomic updates.

Oh... I... No, I was kidding, cause like the joke always is some always say they use arch Linux...

I made a silly comment earlier too about Frieren's name meaning old hag (I know it means freeze, as a verb), and that one didn't land either. Ugh, maybe I should stop making stupid comments....

So you're saying you don't truly seek Perfect Linux Configuration? You bring great dishonor to your house!

We grant you the rank of Power User and the Gaming Enthusiast title, but you may not join the council of 1337 h4x0rz and UNIX Beards.

Thanks! I don't know what I'm doing, and no beard growing here 😉 too much estrogen.

You are the unicorn in the forest. Godspeed and may you remain safe in your travels. (J/K)

Just have fun with whatever distro amuses you. And accidently learn something new today!

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Don't stop. Just remember that there is nothing dumber on two feet than a crowd of humans.

i use openSUSE btw

stop recommending mint to noobs and normies! EndeavorOS is stable enough for an average user, while offering the helping hand of ArchWiki and AURs.

[–] NominatedNemesis@reddthat.com 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It depends on the person, do they want to just use something which can open the browser, office suite, and occasionaly some games/programs without uderstanding anything, or they like to tinker, and customize, break and repair their system. I recommend Mint/Eos/Arch based on the willingness of thinkering. Cinnamon is easy and straight forward, KDE is not.

[–] CheesyFox 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

EOS most certainly can open the browser out of the box. I don't see why such a user would have an issue with kde, or, for the matter, why any windows refugee would

[–] NominatedNemesis@reddthat.com 1 points 2 months ago

My EOS/Arch had broke down after update 3 times since I use them. 2 times nvidia 1 time grub. Anyone without the knowledge and willingness to thinker, will think linux is bad because broke for no reason. As long as they willing to have a bootable USB next to their PC and don't mind to chroot sometimes EOS/Arch is a better choice. I think many-many people overestimate the average human's knowledge and willingness to understand things. Relevant XKCD 2501

i use linux mint sothat i can give better help to noobs and normies who use linux mint. (and i have been using debian for 10 years before that)
