At this point I consider "tankie" to mean "the person being accused probably at least has better opinions than the accuser".

"Tankie" essentially means "supports existing socialism," but as a pejorative. Extending support for socialism to existing or formerly existing socialist projects that exist at a scale greater than a dozen people at a length of time greater than a few years is unnacceptable to those that complain about "tankies."
