Just what is this "final" fantasy? Is it the last in a series? Why are there 17 sequels?

I can remember many years ago when I was much younger than I am now, and when I was still following gaming news, being a gamer at that point of my life, as most boys of that age at that time were, hearing one of the funniest jokes I had and still yet have ever heard and one which I repeat anytime I get the opportunity, which was that "Nothing says 'final' like 'Final Fantasy 13: Part 2'." I believe it was the presenter Jovenshire from Smosh Games but have never been able to find again the source

There is a common myth that they were in dire straights and named it such because if It failed it would end the company. The truth is, they wanted to name it Fighting Fantasy, but that was already taken. Wanting to keep the alliteration, they changed to Final Fantasy, without a significant meaning attached to the title.

I don’t really know what it is either.

It’s a game or something?

It’s a jump scare horror game that all the Gen Alpha kids were obsessed with for a while.

There were no Gen Alpha back then.

There’s definitely Gen Alpha kids who were obsessed with it, but I guess the younger Gen Z were also into it. Kinda came out on the border of the two.
