but pls watch Andor
Star Wars has always been dogshit slop for showerphobic manchildren.
It's impossible to watch a single movie without feeling like I'm being marketed to.
They all feel like overly long toy commercials, and that marketing-spirit carries over to everything else in the movie, like infantile binary morality, shallow writing that can only justify itself through magic, so you never have to question anything, characters that look like racial stereotypes, a la Harry Potter and and tons and tons of characters that only exist to make toys of and market to children.
Fuck star wars.
They ARE precisely overly long toy commercials because Lucas made a deal where he took a huge pay cut while directing, in exchange for ownership of the merchandising rights.
The two slop mega franchises I enjoy, Star Wars and Gundam, are both expensive toy commercials that have stuck around since the late 70s.
With Gundam, at least the original creator fucking hated the toys and only complied to pay the bills (and also tried to intentionally financially destroy the franchise lmao).
The biggest way capitalism has me owned is with gunpla honestly, I can't help it, I love having polystyrene and ABS swimming around in my cerebrospinal fluid.
And the funny thing about that deal from what I remember is that Fox at the time couldn't say no to George because they were in a bad financial situation that made it so they needed him a lot more than he needed them.
never seen that fucking emoji lmfaooooo
