A more humorous aside but they have some ridiculous story about why and how von Braun surrendered to the US rather than USSR, basically saying that he imagined at the end of WWII that the US would offer better funding for his research.
Yes I'm sure that was it, and not the risk of being held accountable for being a Nazi by the USSR. Dude was a fucking rat but they can't acknowledge that.
He was in the same position as Oscar Schindler but instead of helping people escape or avoid being killed, he gleefully chose to profit from their slave labor. That's why the Nuremberg Defense didn't work. We have plenty of examples of people who resisted. Everyone else was an accomplice who knew about what was happening and decided the money was worth it.
